ZOAH POV
I roamed the earth in utter disappointment. My research had yielded no results. I had only managed to secure Herb A, but the others… the other sacred herbs remained elusive. Time was slipping away, and Violet couldn't wait much longer. If I wasn't fast, I would be left with only two choices; lose her, or seek Lucifer's help. Neither option was acceptable.
I owed Violet my life. She had saved me from the mermaid's cruel hands when they tried to end me.
My father, yes, a dragon, had fallen in love with a sacred maiden of the mermaids, Osiranea clan. A maiden forbidden to love. Her name was Olivia, and her very existence was bound to the worship of Osiris. She was born to serve the divine, not to fall in love, definitely not with a dragon.
But fate had other plans. Their love was deep, consuming… and ultimately, dangerous.
She conceived.
In desperation, Oliver tried to abort the cycle. But my father refused. He couldn't allow her to destroy their unborn child, me. They made a choice to defy the gods and protect their baby, no matter the cost.
And oh, how heavy the cost was.
When the people of Osiranea, the mermaids kingdom, discovered Oliver's pregnancy, a divine decree was issued. She was to atone by offering her primordial spirit to Osiris. Her child, me was not to be spared either.
My father? He was sentenced to a brutal beating left on the edge of death and exiled from the kingdom. If he ever dared return, he would be executed without mercy.
But he was no coward.
He returned.
He couldn't bear to watch the sacrifice of his first love. He rose against fate, seeking a way to protect us. But he failed. And in failing… he died. They both did.
Yet, in a strange twist of mercy, the people of Osiriani spared the child. Me. They threw me into the fringes of their kingdom, a place of nothingness, and left me to fate.
I survived.
At fourteen, they realized the truth, they saw fire escape my lips...saw me take flight.
The blood of a dragon surged in my veins.
And in Osiranea, dragons were traitors. Their very existence was blasphemy.
Another decree was passed.
The boy must die.
The boy knew he was going to die. Everyone did. But that didn't mean he wanted to.
He had no strength to change the mind of Osiranea, once they passed judgment, it was sealed. No mercy. No appeal.
So he waited, counting the days, each one faster than the last. With every sunrise, he spent his final hours cultivating, pouring all his energy into one last wish: to transform fully into a dragon before death. Not for revenge, not for escape but for honor. To make his mother and father proud.
But Osiranea didn't care for pride. Or legacy. Or dragons.
Still… not everything was unchangeable.
The night before his execution, a soft knock echoed through his lonely door. He opened it… and there she stood.
A girl. Mysterious. Calm. Unfamiliar.
"Who are you?" he asked warily.
"I'm Violet," she replied.
He blinked. "Who names a girl after a color?"
She raised a brow. "And who asks curious questions moments before his execution?"
Ouch.
His face fell. She had just dragged him back to reality.
"So… are you here to mock me?" he asked, voice heavy as he shut his eyes.
But her next words forced them open again.
"I'm here to save you."
He scoffed, laughing not because it was funny, but because it was ridiculous.
"Save me?" he said. "You think Osiranea will hand me over because you asked nicely? You'll just get yourself killed."
"No one knows I'm here," she said softly. "No one needs to. But you will be saved."
Then, without fear, she reached out her hand.
"This is insane," he murmured.
"You only say that because you don't know who I am."
Her eyes flashed.
"I'm Lucifer's daughter, the Demon Princess herself." The girl whose heart is darker than the abyss. Wicked, heartless, cruel all of it. The one who crushed 350 demon slayers without mercy. The name that causes entire kingdoms to tremble."
The boy stared. Frozen.
If anyone could pull off the impossible, it was her.
And for the first time in days… he believed.
He took her hand and from that moment, everything changed.
No longer was he just a boy counting the seconds to his death. No longer was he just a rejected offspring of forbidden love. He was walking into the unknown, hand-in-hand with chaos, and he knew it.
One thing was certain: Osirianni and him had unfinished business.
He would rise. He would cultivate with fire in his soul, hatred in his chest, and vengeance in his blood. The day his power bloomed, he would burn Osiranea to the ground. Not one soul would be spared. No priest. No elder. No lawmaker. Not even the stones that bore the name would be left behind.
Osiranea would become a forgotten echo.
But karma doesn't wait.
Soon, Osirianni found itself caught in a prophecy of its own.
Osiranea queen, once a noblewoman had offended a great wizard. Her punishment? A curse cast upon her daughter. Her powers sealed. Her mermaid form shattered. She would walk the earth endlessly, powerless, banished, and broken.
Only a someone born of mermaid and dragon blood could lift the curse but it came with a price: the complete sacrifice of his powers. And only one being in all the realms matched that fate, Zoah.
But Zoah had no love left for the kingdom that spat on his birth, erased his parents, and painted his legacy in shame.
The princess could rot for all he cared.
He owed her nothing.
The only person who had ever stood for him… was Violet. She risked her life to give him a second chance. And for that, she alone held a space in his heart.
He would save Violet just like she once saved him.
That was his promise.
And unlike Osiranea… he never broke his promises.
