Seen School wasn't just any school, it was one of the best schools in the cardial Kingdom. Founded 1500 years ago by the mage king Selene Veilhart, it stood as the first institution to formally teach mana control and spell construction to children. Only families with noble titles, successful merchants, or exceptionally talented commoners were able to send their children here.
The school's emblem, a golden book surrounded by twelve faint stars, represented the twelve elemental paths known to mages. Every student wore this emblem stitched upon their left sleeve, a mark of both honor and responsibility
As the duke harry get down the carriage, holding his hand was a young boy of about Kelvin's age. His posture was confident, almost too confident, and his expression carried the kind of pride that could only belong to one born into power.
In this world, a person's mana core was unique to them, determining their affinity. Just as the core revealed one's inner nature, the eyes were said to be the windows of the soul, often hinting at the element flowing within.
"What a great day it is when Duke Harry Violet personally visits our school!" exclaimed a man who had just stepped out from the academy gates, bowing deeply.
"Haha, Vice Principal Ephraim, you are far too polite," replied Duke Harry with a relaxed smile. "I'm merely here to accompany my grandson, I happened to be free today."
"Oh? So this is your grandchild, Cassius Violet?" Ephraim said, glancing down at the boy beside him.
Harry chuckled proudly. "Yes, this is Cassius. You'll be surprised when you check his affinity level."
"I'm looking forward to it," replied the Vice Principal with a respectful nod.
Cassius, hearing his grandfather's praise, straightened his back and smirked at the crowd, an arrogant, condescending smile that made it clear he already believed himself above the rest.
The Vice Principal then turned toward the gathered parents and children. His voice carried through the courtyard, clear and calm.
"Welcome, everyone! I am Ephraim, the Vice Principal of Seen School. I thank you all for being here to witness your children's first Affinity Test. Today, we will discover the elements they were born with , their first step on the path to magic!"
A wave of excitement swept through the crowd. Parents whispered to one another, some nervously, others brimming with pride.
"Now then," continued Ephraim, "please follow me inside."
.........…
Kelvin tugged on Bella's hand, his eyes shining. "Let's hurry, Mother! They're going in already!"
Bella laughed softly. "Hehe, don't be anxious, my love. The school isn't going anywhere, the ceremony will last until dawn. We'll get our turn."
Edward grinned. "You'd think the boy's about to win a war, not start school."
They followed the crowd into the grand hall. Seen School was vast, filled with courtyards, libraries, dueling grounds, gardens, and dormitories. But today, everyone was heading toward the main assembly hall, where the Affinity Ceremony would take place.
Inside, the space was immense, sunlight pouring through stained-glass windows that painted the marble floor in rainbow hues. At the far end stood a raised stage where several senior staff members sat, while long rows of benches filled the room for the parents and children.
Ephraim stepped up to the front once more, his voice echoing across the chamber. "As there are more than five hundred children to be tested, we will proceed in groups."
At the center of the hall stood ten tall crystal pillars, each crowned with a shining orb pulsing faintly with mana.
"The process is simple," Ephraim explained. "Each child will step forward, place their hand on the crystal, and close their eyes. The crystal will respond to their mana and reveal their elemental affinity."
He paused, scanning the crowd, and continued:
"The color of the light will tell us your child's natural alignment; Red for Fire, Blue for Water, Yellow for Earth, Cyan for Air, Green for Wood and gold for metal. These are the normal affinities that most of us possess."
Kelvin nodded eagerly, listening carefully as if the Vice Principal were sharing the greatest secret in the world.
Ephraim smiled faintly and went on. "Then, there are the rare affinities, Purple for Thunder, Black for Darkness, Shining White for Light, and Pale White for Spirit Summoning."
He paused for a brief moment, and the hall went silent.
"And finally," he said slowly, "there are the Unique Affinities, Space and Time. These do not display any fixed color. They manifest as hues no one can describe, until their natural awakening."
A soft murmur spread among the audience.
Kelvin's heart thumped in his chest. Kelvin's eyes lit up , not with surprise, but fascination.
He already knew all of this from his readings, yet hearing it aloud, surrounded by so many children brimming with mana, made it feel different, real.
"So these are the colors of destiny…" he whispered. "It's one thing to read about them, but seeing it myself will be something else."
Bella smiled gently. "Yes, my dear. Each color is a story of its own."
Edward chuckled. "Hehe, and let's just hope your color isn't something strange, like gray or brown."
Kelvin puffed up his cheeks. "Dad! I bet mine will be the brightest !"
The family laughed, unaware that fate had already written a very different story for the boy, one that no color in this hall could ever capture.
But again will fate be able to write his fate.
