Han Soi finally snapped out of his daze.
He truly had been staring… completely lost the moment she opened her eyes. Her gaze was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. And when she scrambled away like he was a monster ready to devour her, his heart jumped strangely.
Then his eyes had landed on her body.
And everything else disappeared.
She was breathtaking. Shockingly so. Beautiful enough to steal a man's breath and soul.
He had frozen.
Until she screamed at him with those tear-filled eyes.
Han Soi coughed to hide the embarrassment and jerked his head away, looking toward the wall immediately. He sat up and shifted as far as he could from her, not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable.
"I'm not looking," he said quickly in a stiff tone. "I'm not." He still couldn't believe he had actually been staring at her naked body so brazenly.
He felt heat climbing up his neck. It was not the first time he had seen a naked female; many females had tried to seduce him to make him one of their beast-husbands, but back then he only felt disgusted at their sight.
He would rather become a degenerate beast than become one of their mates.
But this female was completely different from them. She was not bold like those females… There was shyness and anger in her eyes, which completely hooked him.
On the other hand, Yue Yue didn't believe him at all. She glared at him with burning anger and humiliation.
Then she struggled to find something to cover herself with. Her eyes darted around desperately. She spotted a sheet covering the bed and reached for it, tugging hard.
Except… the sheet was stuck somewhere.
She yanked again, using more strength. Too much strength.
The sheet finally came loose, but the sudden release made her lose balance. She fell backward with a loud THUMP, sprawling across the bed in a truly awkward, helpless position.
Han Soi's body twitched at the sound. He almost turned around out of instinct. But before he could, she screamed again.
"D-Don't look!! Don't you dare look!!"
He flinched so hard he froze. His entire body went stiff as he squeezed his eyes closed, not daring to glance even a little.
On the other side of the bed, the poor female hurriedly scrambled upright, grabbed the sheet with shaking hands, and wrapped it tightly around her body. She pulled it all the way up to her chin and tucked it under her legs, securing it like her life depended on it.
Han Soi waited until the rustling behind him finally stopped. Only then did he slowly turn around.
And the sight that greeted him made his breath hitch.
Yue Yue was sitting on the bed, wrapped like a terrified dumpling in the entire sheet. Only her wide, red, watery eyes peeked out… and glaring at him with the ferocity of a cornered rabbit ready to bite.
His heart stirred immediately.
She looked so scared. And somehow… so unbearably adorable that he had to force himself not to walk closer.
Han Soi took a quiet breath to steady his mind. This was not the time for questions. It was not the time to ask who she was or how she had calmed his frenzied state. She was already frightened enough.
"I… will bring you something to wear," he said softly.
He didn't wait for her to answer. He didn't want to scare her any further.
He stood up and left the room in quick, long steps, closing the door behind him as quietly as possible.
Yue Yue blinked.
He… left?
Just like that?
She stared at the door with a stunned expression, as if trying to understand how this terrifying man had suddenly turned into a docile puppy.
Before she could process anything further...
DING!
That annoying sound echoed again.
Her eyebrow twitched.
Then the mechanical voice she hated so much chimed inside her head.
"Congratulations to Host for completing Main Quest 1: Survive for 24 Hours."
Yue Yue's jaw dropped.
"Twenty-four hours… already passed? How? I slept for most of it!"
She felt her stomach twist. Had she really survived the first day by… sleeping? How could she be so careless to fall asleep like that? What if she never woke up and died in her sleep? It would have been truly unfortunate.
The system didn't care.
Another window popped up in front of her eyes.
Reward: Life Extension +7 days.
She stared at the numbers hovering above her, showing her remaining time ticking slowly.
Her mood improved by exactly 1%.
But before she could even breathe...another message popped up.
"Does Host wish to receive the Memories of This World?
Caution: Host will fall unconscious. Proceed with awareness."
Yue Yue stiffened.
Fall unconscious?
Right now?
While she was basically naked under this thin sheet?
WHAT IF THAT MAN CAME BACK?!
No. Absolutely not. She shook her head so fast the system almost glitched.
"I'll do it later," she whispered. "What if he walks in and sees me fainted like this? That dangerous guy… he's the villain I'm supposed to handle! I can't trust him yet!"
As if proving her right, footsteps echoed outside the hallway.
Yue Yue's eyes widened.
He was coming back.
She squeezed the sheet tighter around herself until she looked like a tightly wrapped, trembling rice roll.
The system continued talking anyway, ignoring her panic.
"Main Quest Completed. Memories can be accessed anytime."
"Issuing Next Mission…"
She didn't look at it.
She didn't have the mental strength...when the footsteps were approaching her.
Han Soi stepped back inside, holding something folded carefully in his hands.
Yue Yue instinctively curled up, gripping the sheet even tighter, peeking at him like he was a wolf delivering a trap disguised as a gift.
Han Soi paused when he saw her. A complicated expression crossed his eyes...guilt, softness, surprise.
He walked slowly, carefully, as if approaching an animal that might bolt at any moment.
