Chapter 25 - Setting Out for Liyue

Amber bid farewell to Jiang Chen and Lumine, reminding them to come back and visit when they had time.

After parting, the two continued shopping, replenishing supplies for the long journey.

Once everything was packed, they finally set off.

With no Teleport Waypoints in the real world, traveling between nations meant exactly one thing: walking.

Or tagging along with caravans.

In Teyvat, long-distance travel was all manpower and legwork.

Mondstadt and Liyue's technological levels were still far behind the likes of Fontaine—

they had airships, while Mondstadt still relied on horses.

Liyue wasn't much better.

Seriously… someone should launch an industrial revolution already.

Otherwise, these nations were guaranteed to fall behind.

Every region had its quirks and problems…

But Liyue was the most stable foundation for reform.

Maybe once I reach Liyue, I can start something?

Maybe even take a seat among the Qixing?

Then push all sorts of reforms—develop technology—break through the fake sky—and lead Teyvat into the interstellar era.

After all… Herta's Space Station had Wind Gliders.

Clearly, Teyvat and the Star Rail universe weren't entirely disconnected.

If that's the case, then it should be possible to reach the Astral Express someday.

I was playing Star Rail before transmigrating—so why did I end up in Teyvat instead!?

Wrong franchise! This must be corrected!

Jiang Chen silently vowed to test his powers at the Statue of The Seven once they reached Liyue.

Maybe the system would activate new functions.

With that resolve, Jiang Chen and Lumine bought the last of their supplies and formally began their long journey to Liyue.

Back in Mondstadt—

Jean also received word of their departure.

When Amber told her, she was stunned.

"So fast?

Why didn't they tell us earlier?"

After all, Lumine had just come yesterday to request help posting the missing-person notice for her brother…

Lisa touched her chin thoughtfully.

"Perhaps Mondstadt doesn't have much left to attract them?

And Lumine is still searching for her brother.

If it were me, I'd also want to look elsewhere quickly."

She felt it was a pity though—

she had planned to introduce them to a few more Mondstadt residents.

But before she even acted, they were already gone.

Jean sighed.

"Well… there will be chances in the future.

Lumine is an Honorary Knight now."

Mondstadt would welcome them back anytime.

On the Road

Leaving Mondstadt, Jiang Chen led Lumine toward Springvale.

From there:

→ Dawn Winery

→ Stone Gate

→ Dihua Marsh

→ Wangshu Inn

→ Guili Plains

→ Finally, Liyue Harbor.

That was their route.

Before setting off, Jiang Chen had bought a detailed map.

While walking, he studied it together with Lumine.

"Hey, what do you think?" Jiang Chen suddenly said.

"Should we buy a piece of land in Yaoguang Shoal and build a house there?"

"Hmm?" Lumine blinked.

Jiang Chen pointed at the map.

"Liyue's population is too concentrated.

Everyone gathers in Liyue Harbor, Qingce Village, or Qiaoying Village.

Mingyun Village? Practically abandoned already.

Once the mines emptied out, people moved away.

"But Yaoguang Shoal?

A perfect beachfront location.

We could build a massive villa—wake up every day to a beautiful shoreline.

When bored, we can even walk to Dragonspine to play in the snow."

Jiang Chen sounded genuinely inspired.

Lumine stared at him, speechless.

"…But that's far from Liyue Harbor.

Wouldn't that make everything inconvenient?"

"What's the problem with a little distance?" Jiang Chen waved it off.

"At our speed, we can get to Liyue Harbor in no time.

Worst case, we convince Liyue to develop the area later."

Teyvat didn't have TVs, movies, or malls anyway.

Living somewhere quiet made no difference.

Plus, land was cheap.

Lumine hesitated, then slowly nodded.

"Well… I guess that works."

"Good. That's settled then," Jiang Chen grinned.

"We'll check Liyue's situation first, though.

Who knows—maybe some rich lady gifts us a house?"

Lumine: "…"

"Besides," Jiang Chen added,

"We should wait until after the Osial incident.

Imagine building a villa only for it to get washed away.

Ask that poor black-feathered lady—everything must be done cautiously."

So they weren't in a hurry.

For now, the journey itself was the priority.

Through Springvale

By noon, they reached Springvale, grabbed lunch, and bought fresh meat.

Springvale wasn't at all like the tiny in-game village.

It was large, lively, and full of livestock.

After eating and stocking up, the group resumed their journey.

With Stormterror's influence fading, Mondstadt's routes were reopening, and monsters had been mostly cleared.

Their travel toward Liyue was safe—for now.

The real danger awaited them in Liyue:

Abyssal taint, remnants of ancient gods, and other hazards that even Vision-bearers feared.
