Chapter 11 - Power of the Origin

A plan, the element of surprise, and a bit of luck — in Kreyn's opinion, these were the key ingredients for victory. This was especially effective against an enemy that was initially stronger.

He couldn't go directly against Enor and Laura until he and the others regained their powers, so that's how Kreyn's plan to eliminate the two Origins quickly came about.

Someone else in his place would have relied solely on dynamite, but Kreyn was sure that wouldn't be enough.

'I have to do this myself.'

This thought led Kreyn here, causing him to shoot directly into Enor's temple.

BAM!

The sound of the shot echoed throughout the prison yard as all eyes turned to the rapidly dissipating cloud of dust.

"What the..." Groza's eyes widened in disbelief. She wasn't the only one with shock on her face.

Blue energy, a dense barrier, covered part of Enor's head.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

Drops of blood trickled from the bullet that had only grazed his skin, as Enor's head was thrown back by the powerful kinetic force of the shot.

Kreyn, who was closest, immediately jumped back and gripped the revolver tightly with both hands.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

As fast as he could, he pulled the trigger, firing five rounds at Enor's like a target. The distance and Kreyn's experience made it impossible for him to miss, he hit the spot, but...

"Shit." Kreyn spat out, looking at the bullets that were stopped by the same barrier. "It's not that simple, right?"

Crack.

A rattle came from the ring on Enor's finger as cracks ran across the blue stone. As a result, it shattered into fragments along with the ring itself.

The protective barrier vanished as all the bullets fell at Enor's feet.

Enor's neck bent at a strange angle as he stretched his neck before bending down and picking up one of the bullets.

The crumpled bullet reflected in his eyes as he looked at Kreyn.

"You... Who the hell are you?" Enor shook his head. "Hah, you decided to start a riot at a time like this. I thought that if it ever happened, it would be one of the leaders, but not some unknown kiddo."

In response, Kreyn swung the now-empty revolver.

"As you can see, I am the new warden of this prison. I'm afraid I don't take hostages."

Without saying a word, Enor tossed the bullet aside as his expression changed dramatically.

"HAHAHAHA!" His laughter echoed throughout the prison. "Do you really think you have a chance? A bunch of lowlifes against the Wurhen Family?!"

Enor turned to Laura.

"Lady, please step aside. I must show these scumbags what an Origin is capable of!"

"But...!"

Laura tried to say something, but Enor's cold gaze made it clear that he didn't need her help. He was going to handle the situation himself. She was too afraid of Enor, so she backed away.

"Tsk." Kreyn gave her a contemptuous look. "What a shame. Is this your lady? Is this the one you were scared of? She can't even control her own servant!"

"Shut your mouth! You worthless piece of trash!" Enor exclaimed as his aura burst forth.

The prisoners shuddered in fear as they watched the purple flame cover Enor's frame. They were simple people, and fighting an Origin was a death sentence for them.

For Kreyn, this wasn't the first time.

'Something's not right,' he thought. 'Groza's aura was similar, but not quite the same. Is he stronger than Groza, or is he just different?'

In a flash, a dark cane with a round tip appeared in Enor's hand.

'Agh? Is that his weapon? Is he the Arx Type like Groza and me?'

Kreyn knew that Liam and Azura had another Catalyst Type — the Veyr Type. What Kreyn didn't know was that these two Types weren't the only ones.

THUMP!

Enor struck the ground with his cane and exclaimed:

"Bone Keeper, come, I summon you!"

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Cracks spread across the surface as a dark hand burst from the ground, then another as they gripped the edges to pull the great body out.

The previously defiant prisoners shuddered and crawled back as the true monster appeared to Enor's right.

The Bone Keeper was a creature four meters tall, towering over every human. Its massive body was covered in bone armor, and on its head was a skull mask, seemingly from some beast with two curved horns, and only red lights burned in two hollows where its eyes should have been. Its broad back was covered with protruding bones that looked like spikes.

The Arx Type was expressed through the use of some kind of weapon, the Veyr Type involved tattoos and flexible control over the energy, and then what Enor used was the third type, the Norx Type.

Naturally, such Origins relied mainly not on their own abilities and energy but on the power of the creatures they could summon. That was their main power.

"Bone Keeper." Enor's voice rang out as he pointed to a random prisoner. "Show this ignorant one the power that lies beyond his understanding!"

Without hesitation, the Bone Keeper began to carry out the order. The monster pulled one of the many bones from its back and swung its arm.

Realizing that they had become the target, the prisoners scattered in all directions.

"No!"

"Hurry! Get away!"

"Fuck! We shouldn't have gone against him!"

It was already too late.

Whooooooosh!

The Bone Keeper threw the bone like a giant spear, piercing two prisoners with such force that it stuck to the wall, turning them into a bloody mess.

"Gha..."

Hot steam escaped from the Bone Keeper's skull as it awaited the next order.

This scene alone was enough to strike terror into the prisoners. Their faces paled as the fear of death consumed them.

Enor turned with a broad grin, expecting to see the same expression on Kreyn's face.

"Agh?"

His eyes widened in disbelief because Kreyn remained calm.

Step.

Kreyn stepped back as he clapped his fist into his palm and held two fingers high in the air.

It was nothing more than a transition to the next stage of the plan.

"You know, unlike you, I never expected an easy victory in the first place."

Right on cue, Daren jumped off the roof. He held tightly to the sword to which a bundle of freshly lit dynamite was tied.

"Here we go!" Daren plunged the sword deep into the monster's shoulder.

Enor waved his hand. "FUCK! You bastard, what do you think you're doing?!"

BAM!

The Bone Keeper turned and threw Daren across the courtyard with a sweeping punch. His back slammed into a stone pillar as blood gushed from his mouth, but despite the pain, he grinned.

"It's done." He looked at Kreyn. "Right?"

In the next heartbeat, the last spark disappeared from Kreyn's black eyes as more than a dozen sticks of dynamite exploded simultaneously, plunging the courtyard into a fiery inferno with Enor and his loyal guard at its center.

'There is nothing that a well-placed explosion cannot solve.'
