Chapter 27 - The God of Dust, Guizhong

"Y-yes… yes…"

Morax replied helplessly.

He then forced out a stiff, awkward smile.

Zayn waved a hand immediately.

"Alright, alright—stop smiling. That looks worse than crying."

Morax fell silent again.

Was his smile really that bad?

Also, he had never shed a single tear since the day he was born.

So how could something look "worse than crying" when he had never even cried?

Zayn didn't care what Morax was overthinking.

He simply conjured a table and two chairs right in the middle of the Glaze Lily sea,

along with Morax's preferred tea and Zayn's beloved ice-cold soda.

Watching this series of smooth motions—

Morax suddenly wondered:

The Right of Manifestation is indeed powerful…

but why does Zayn use all of it just to improve his quality of life…?

"What are you doing?" Morax asked suspiciously.

Zayn grinned.

"Picnic!"

"We've come all the way to the Glaze Lily sea—of course we have to enjoy it properly!"

But inwardly, Zayn thought:

If we just wander around and leave immediately, won't the God of Dust arrive only to find we're already gone?

She won't get the chance to meet Morax at all!

So he decided to stall.

A picnic in the flower sea was the perfect excuse.

Morax shook his head helplessly.

Very well.

Since he followed Zayn out here, he might as well experience what mortals called "leisure."

Originally, Morax thought Zayn would conjure some food, eat, then be done.

But—

Zayn was far from done.

He cleared a small patch of flowers and conjured a full iron barbecue grill.

"…?"

Morax was completely confused now.

Sensing his gaze, Zayn cheerfully said:

"What? Never seen a god cook?"

"Stop—don't say it. I know you want to ask why I don't just conjure cooked food.

But I'm telling you—the fun is in the process."

If everything were just conjured instantly, life would be too boring.

Then Zayn manifested skewers—dozens of different meats and vegetables.

Ignite the fire! Begin grilling!

The skewers sizzled—

"zizizi—"

The aroma of grilling rose like a white plume of smoke drifting into the sky…

Anyone within miles would smell it.

After cooking to perfection, Zayn sprinkled cumin and chili powder—

and plated everything beautifully.

"Mmm! Delicious!"

Of course he had to taste his own cooking first.

It wasn't as perfect as conjured food,

but that didn't matter.

It was his own work—so of course it tasted good.

"No, seriously—try some!"

Zayn filled a plate and passed it to Morax.

Morax sampled a skewer.

"…Not bad."

Zayn leaned forward eagerly.

"Well? Well?"

Morax nodded.

"Quite good. I did not expect Zenos' culinary skills to be this accomplished."

Hahaha—

Now that was nice to hear.

Though Zayn himself knew the truth—

it wasn't his cooking skill,

It was the divine-level seasoning that could make even a wooden stick taste good.

Still, praise was praise.

"Thanks, Morax," Zayn laughed.

The two of them ended up sitting in the Glaze Lily sea,

not sure whether they came to admire flowers or to have a barbecue—

but thoroughly enjoying the moment.

Meanwhile, far away—

The God of Dust, Guizhong, abruptly stopped reading her stone tablet.

She sensed… two powerful divine presences.

Two gods had entered her land?

This was not good.

If they were here to seize her fertile territory,

She had no way of resisting.

She was a god of wisdom, not warfare.

And the Glaze Lily plains were prime land—

rich soil, flat terrain, an ideal domain.

Of course other gods might covet it.

Which was exactly why Guizhong had long been searching for a powerful ally.

After hesitating, she stood up.

Even if she was no match for them,

she could not just abandon her people and flee.

She must meet them.

As she approached, she saw—

from a distance—

a white plume of smoke drifting upward.

…What is that smell?

So fragrant…

Drawing closer—

She saw two gods.

A table.

Two chairs.

A bizarre iron contraption.

And—

They were eating?

Guizhong's mind produced three large question marks.

So they were…

picnicking

in her territory?

This did not seem like a territorial invasion at all.

After all—

Who invades with a table and barbecue grill?

"You… you two…"

She collected herself.

"Greetings. I am the god who governs this land—

the God of Dust, Guizhong.

You may call me Gui Zhong."

"May I know your intentions in coming here?"

Little did she know—

the very god she wished to form an alliance with

stood before her at this moment.

They had only heard of each other—

never met face-to-face.

Zayn stood, smiling warmly.

"Hello, hello.

I am the God of Manifestation—Zenos.

Just call me Zayn."

"We saw this breathtaking sea of Glaze Lilies and couldn't resist stopping to admire it.

I apologize if we've disturbed the land's master."

Simply here to admire flowers?

Guizhong relaxed visibly.

She truly did not wish to fight—

especially not with two gods whose auras felt this strong.

"I am Morax—

the God of Geo."

Compared to Zayn's enthusiastic introduction,

Morax was concise and direct.

Guizhong's eyes widened slightly.

Morax!?

The God of Geo—Morax!?

She examined him again, her gaze lingering.

"So it truly is the God of Geo—Morax!

Please forgive my lack of proper welcome!"

"As the host of this land,

how could I not offer you hospitality?"

"May the two of you come with me to my dwelling?

Allow me to receive you properly."

Her smile was sincere and warm.

Originally, they had intruded upon her domain—

yet she welcomed them instead.

Morax saw no reason to decline.

"Very well."

Since Morax agreed,

Zayn naturally had no objections.

"Lead the way~"
