Dante went to the meeting with the scout on Saturday morning.
Adrian stayed behind in the dorm, trying to study for his upcoming literature exam, failing miserably.
He'd read the same paragraph of his assigned novel seven times without retaining a single word. His mind kept drifting to California, to Dante sitting across from professional basketball team management, to the offer that might pull Dante three thousand miles away.
He checked his phone for the eighth time in ten minutes.
No new messages.
Sage appeared in his doorway without knocking—they had a key to Adrian's room for emergencies, and apparently this qualified.
"Give me your phone," Sage demanded, hand outstretched.
"What? No."
"You're going to give yourself a heart attack. I can see you spiraling from the hallway." Sage crossed the room and physically took the phone from Adrian's hand. "I'm confiscating this for the next two hours."
"He's deciding our entire future right now!"
