Spring break approached—one week of freedom from classes, assignments, and the constant pressure of college life.
They needed to decide: spend it together or apart?
The question hung between them one evening as they sat in Adrian's dorm room, both pretending to study but actually just staring at their respective calendars.
"My parents want me home," Dante said finally, breaking the silence.
"Mine too."
They looked at each other, neither wanting to be the first to say they'd rather stay together, neither wanting to seem clingy or codependent or like they couldn't function apart for a week.
But the truth was obvious in the way they both hesitated, in the disappointment flickering across both their faces.
Finally, Adrian suggested: "What if we split it? Few days with our families, few days together somewhere else?"
"Like where?"
"I don't know. Somewhere neutral. Just us. No campus, no friends, no obligations. Just time to exist together without all the noise."
