Chapter 19 - The Chasm

With his heart finally settling down, Uncle Yun produced the second reward he had mentioned.

He lifted a waist token—ancient in design, edged in gold, with a single crimson character "雲" engraved at its center.

"This here is the crest of the Feiyun Commerce Guild," Yunshan explained. "Since you're a Liyue native as well, lad, if you ever wish to return home, present this token and you can take the shortcut through the nearby Chasm. Saves you the trouble of braving the sea routes."

"And when you reach Liyue," he added warmly, "you must come visit Feiyun Commerce. Let this old Yun treat you properly."

Lin Feng's eyes lit up in surprise.

He had always wondered how to get back to Liyue. After all, despite Sumeru and Liyue sharing a border, ordinary people couldn't cross freely—The Chasm was a military zone. Entry was tightly controlled; no typical merchant could pass.

But this token… was the Feiyun Guild vouching for him personally.

For someone who had dreamed of seeing Liyue since the day he transmigrated, this was practically priceless.

"Uncle Yun, I won't say empty thanks—this token is exactly what I needed. When I head back to Liyue, I'll definitely trouble you."

His sincerity was plain to see. For a wanderer with no official identity, this wasn't just a token—this was legitimacy.

Hearing that Lin Feng truly appreciated the gift, Yunshan beamed.

Since hearing his daughter gush nonstop about the boy—diving into danger alone, shielding her even after that inexplicable explosion—he knew perfectly well what that tone of awe meant.

Looking at Lin Feng's clearly young age, Yunshan felt genuine affection for this talented countryman. No wonder he didn't hesitate to hand over his personal crest; with a word to the Liyue Ministry of Civil Affairs, Lin Feng's passage home would be smooth.

After a hearty meal, Lin Feng escorted father and daughter to a nearby inn. The emotional whiplash of the past two days had left both exhausted. After agreeing to see them off tomorrow, he returned to his treehouse.

Back in his little nook, he finally felt a rare sense of ease.

Remembering the bag Yunshan gave him, curiosity tugged at him. He didn't expect much, but… he still got up and fetched the dark green pouch.

He opened it—

—and froze.

Inside weren't many mora coins…

But every single coin was a high denomination.

That tiny bag held five hundred thousand mora.

Lin Feng: "…"

So this is what true wealth looks like?

And this man had said, "Not much spare money, hope you don't mind"?

Clutching the little pouch, Lin Feng felt waves of happiness crash over him.

Then remembering his arrangement with Lanlana, Lin Feng—who was planning to sleep—lowered part of his resistance to dream intrusion, quietly waiting for a certain green-haired little Archon.

Within the green dreamscape.

Lin Feng surveyed the place—his first visit to this dream—and couldn't help admiring Nahida's taste.

He bowed slightly.

"A pleasure to finally meet you. Please allow me to greet you, O venerable God of Wisdom."

Even knowing her personality, he maintained the respect owed a deity.

"And thank you for your help earlier," he added. "About the destruction I caused in the forest… I'll try my best to help repair what I can."

Yes—after the commotion he caused, the crater still faintly brimming with residual annihilation energy was obviously suspicious.

So Lin Feng had asked Lanlana to see if Lesser Lord Kusanali could help cover the traces. After receiving a yes, he had left with fewer worries.

Though a massive crater still remained, Nahida had cleansed the lingering energy, and the Aranara had already grown new plants around it. With everything masked, the scene now looked less like external devastation and more like a natural collapse triggered by the Withering being cleansed.

Gods would see through it, of course—but it'd keep the Sages of the Akademiya off his back.

Nahida studied the boy who had never met her, yet looked at her as though she were familiar. Something about him was strange… but she set her questions aside.

Her voice was clear and gentle as she replied:

"You destroyed the Withering to save those in danger. Though the forest suffered, you were like a woodpecker clearing away harmful pests. You need not carry guilt. The forest is grateful."

Hearing the same soft, reassuring tone he had known from the game, Lin Feng felt his guarded heart loosen a little.

He decided to seize this chance and clarify some mysteries about himself.

"Then, revered Little Lucky Grass King… may I ask if you know anything about my origins?"

He began with the most essential question.

"Um… please don't be so formal. Just call me Nahida."

The little Archon, unused to such respectful treatment, seemed flustered.

"I'm sorry," she continued after a moment. "I don't know anything about your background. Your existence is… blank. Even in the 'world' itself, there is no record of you."

Lin Feng's expression dimmed slightly, but Nahida went on:

"If I'm not mistaken… you are someone from outside this world."

"In light of your power, I believe the term 'one who rivals the world'—as the Void calls such beings—fits you well."

Wisdom God indeed—her answers came quick and precise.

Talking to her was like talking to a teacher with an instinctive desire to explain everything.

"Me? A Descender?"

A being who rivals the world—players knew the term well: Descenders.

But Lin Feng had doubts. Descenders could fight worlds on their own; he felt far from that. Little White maybe—him, not so much.

"Yes," Nahida nodded. "There is no need to doubt your power. Even though it was only for an instant, the pressure your aura exerted… even the most ancient demon gods could not compare."

Lin Feng glanced down at the tiny creature that had entered the dream with him.

He pinched the loose skin on Little White's neck, lifting it like a kitten.

"If I told you that power belonged to this thing, would you believe me?"

Nahida blinked.

"…Is this some new kind of joke?"

She stared at Little White—who dangled in the air, limbs flailing helplessly—and her face said clearly: Absolutely not.

Lin Feng: "…"
