After thinking about it, Savier found that it was perfectly reasonable for his royal father to assign Sir Rylan as his personal bodyguard. In the new generation of Royal guards under thirty years old, who else was qualified other than him?
No, it was not because he admired Sir Rylan, but that was the truth that he knew no one could deny. So, maybe it was naive of him not to expect this.
The only thing that prevented this meeting from happening was if Sir Rylan himself refused the offer. However, for royal guards, protecting the main lineage, not to mention the crown prince, was the greatest opportunity.
It was like the biggest promotion ever.
It was evident seeing them anxious yet filled with anticipation.
The whole introduction only lasted for a few minutes, and the planned speech was also scrapped, so he immediately jumped to briefing them on his schedule.
Fortunately, he had already written them off and printed them to be handed to each guard. He secretly glanced at Sir Rylan's expression, reading his schedule and what he usually does or where he normally goes.
Did he find it boring? Uninteresting?
Savier admitted it was. He was boring.
Looking for a few seconds, he did not find any change in Sir Rylan's expression as he read through the document. Sighing to himself, he could not be helped.
As his personal guards, they needed to know all his schedules and the pattern of his life to better provide assistance and protection to him. Although it was not to the extent that he also would put his favorite food or anything but there was indeed minor information there, like what seat was his favorite in class or if he was allergic to anything.
Shit. Should I just skip those?
They were minor details about him anyway. However, he wanted his guards to at least know this, so if an emergency occurred, they were informed and could respond faster.
Whatever. Not like he could change anything when he was already reading them.
Their meeting was close to lunch, so as planned, he invited them to eat. The four did not refuse him, to his relief. Maybe they also noticed that this was him wanting to get to know them.
After all, they would see each other from now on almost every day.
"Oh, as for accommodations..." Sitting in the headseat at the table, Savier paused and put down his cutlery. He looked at them, then at the butler standing beside him.
Unlike them, as this was their first meeting, they could still eat with him. Though this might be the last time it would happen. The butler was a royal attendant and had a strict education to become one, and so, even if Savier invited him, he would firmly refuse that offer.
In the empire, hierarchy was something strictly adhered to by all the empire's citizens. While this was a modern era where republics and democratic countries had sprouted one after another, the empire still stood strongly and powerfully, which was one of the oldest monarchies in the world. Even after the war that happened over twenty years ago.
This hierarchy seemed to be engraved in each empire's citizens, just as genetic hierarchy in the whole world.
"What are the plans for them?" He asked. The four also paused eating, if what you called them eating, as they barely touch the dishes, conscious of Savier's presence.
Like them, he was also waiting for the butler's answer.
Say, they will live here.
He almost requested that out loud.
"Like the royal guards stationed in the villa, they also will live here and..."
Yes!
Savier tried to stop his lips from curving and forming a smile. His eyes automatically landed on Sir Rylan at his left, who was listening intently to the butler.
As all of them were listening, he could stare... of course, not by too much. Just a little bit.
He did not even care what the butler was saying, as long as he had already heard what he wanted to hear. When Sir Rylan seemed to sense his gaze and was about to turn to his side, Savier quickly averted his gaze and pretended to be listening as well.
"...most of their schedules and tasks are up to Your Highness." The butler ended.
Savier nodded, as if he actually listened and understood. He roamed his eyes to each of them before stopping at Sir Rylan's as he nodded.
"All of you can arrange your things later, so for now, please eat comfortably. You'll be with me every day from now on, so try to get used to it."
They all nodded and expressed their understanding.
"And..." Savier picked up his cutlery and cut his food, feigning calmness as he looked at his plate. "Si... ahem, I mean, Mr. Rylan, can we talk later?"
Savier was so thankful that his voice did not break. He could not see Sir Rylan's expression; he was a bit nervous.
Before the other could answer, Savier looked up, firmly holding the cutlery in his hands.
He continued. "All of you know that I should have selected my personal guards early. But I requested at least to have my normal school life. Aside from guards protecting the villa and a driver, I don't have someone following me at all times."
Savier took a deep breath. He decided not to go around in circles anymore.
"Actually... I've heard of Mr. Rylan before. My royal father regards you highly, and I'm also curious about you."
Looking at the other straight in the eye, he expressed what he wanted.
"What do you think of... following me from now on?"
Okay, that was lame but... as Savier saw him nod without hesitation, the smile he was holding spread on his lips. Being lame was better!
Honestly, he did not even care about being exposed as his fan right there and then.
Of course, Savier would not do that. It was embarrassing!
In the study, grateful that he already cleaned it yesterday. He finally faced his idol alone.
Earlier, he had some reservations about whether he would meet him here in the study or just talk in the living room. As a dominant alpha, this was considered his territory, where most of his pheromones were permitted throughout the room.
Thankfully, it seemed neither of them had have obvious reaction to this. Like him feeling invaded by a new alpha or Sir Rylan reacting negatively to his pheromones.
Most alphas naturally oppose or repel each pheromones of the same traits.
It was a bit surprising, though. But maybe it was because he admired the other in the first place, so he did not care much. As for Sir Rylan, he was wearing a scent blocker and which minimized the reactions to the scent somewhat.
