Chapter 3 - Weedle

In the midst of the glowing white light, the Pokémon egg began to shift - its smooth, oval shell stretching and elongating, gradually taking the form of a segmented, worm-like

creature.

As DJ's eyes adjusted to the brightness, a tiny figure came into focus: a Pokémon with

• a single sharp horn, beady black eyes like little beans, a rounded pink nose, and a body made of distinct yellowish-orange segments.

It was a Weedle - no doubt about it.

Weedle, Bug/ Poison-type Pokemon.

Ability: Shield Dust

Hidden Ability: Run Away

The newborn Pokémon looked up at DJ, locked eyes with him, and immediately began to wriggle toward him. Without hesitation, he cupped it gently in both hands, instinctively careful not to startle it.

Newly hatched Pokémon always imprinted on the first living thing they saw.

"Dee~!" The Weedle gave a soft cry and affectionately rubbed against DJ's palm. He

ran his fingers gently over its smooth, slightly fuzzy body.

It purred in response and flipped over in his hand, clearly enjoying the attention.

Soit really was a Weedle.

DJ felt a weird mix of excitement and mild disappointment. Bug types were raise, and Weedle evolved quickly - that was great. But part of him, deep down, had hoped for something more dramatic. Maybe a starter Pokemon, or one of those rare pseudo-legendaries.

Wishful thinking. Still... this was his first Pokémon. That made it special.

He turned toward Aunt Rachel, who had been watching from the hallway with a warm.

smile.

"Aunt Rachel, what do I feed a newborn Pokémon?"

Rachel chuckled and walked over. "Fresh Miltank milk is ideal If you can get it.

Otherwise, some natural honey works too."

She went downstairs and came back a few minutes later with a chilled bottle of milk

and a little feeding bowl made for young Pokémon.

She poured the milk into the bowl and passed it to DJ.

He gently set the Weedle on the table and placed the bowl in front of it.

The little bug-type sniffed the air, gave the bowl a curious nudge, then eagerly took a

sip. Its eyes lit up, and it dove in enthusiastically.

"Dee-dee~!" it chirped in delight before finishing the milk and curling up right there on

the table, drifting into a peaceful nap.

Evan looked at it fondly. "Aunt Rachel... this is my first time raising a Pokémon. Any

tips?"

Rachel nodded. "Bug-types grow fast, but they're fragile early on. Just be patient and

consistent. You'll both be fine."

She gave him a reassuring pat on the back before heading back to her j daycare. Before leaving, she handed him the rest of the milk bottle. Walke it.

Cradling the sleeping Weedle in his arms, DJ stopped by the neighborhood store on

the wav home. He bought three more bottles of Miltank milk and two jars of honey.

Each milk bottlé cost $7, and the honey jars were $15 apiece. Total damage: $51

He stuffed them into his backpack and hurried home.

There, he carefully laid Weedle on a folded towel atop his bed. Then he sat at his desk,

opened a fresh notebook, and scribbled on the first page:

"Weedle's Growth Journal"

Better to log everything - meals, skills, development, training ideas. I've got to stay

organized.

From what he remembered, Weedle typically came with three starting moves: Poison

Sting, String Shot, and Bug Bite.

Sometimes, if you were lucky, you could get one that knew Electroweb - but that was

rare.

Still, DJ knew he had to make the most of the basics before Weedle evolved into

Kakuna.

Strong foundations made strong battlers.

He wrote out a feeding plan: fresh MooMoo Milk only. No substitutes. Human-grade milk was okay in emergencies, but it didn't pack the same punch. Miltank milk was loaded with nutrients and helped boost early growth.

No wonder Gym Leader Whitney's dairy farm made a fortune - thousands of Miltank,

and all of them producing top-grade milk.

Once Weedle was strong enough, Evan planned to mix in honey, Then gras

transition to specialized Pokémon food.

But that stuff varied in quality too.

Cheap brands cost around $3 a bag and barely did the job. Premium blends c

to $30, but they actually boosted stats and helped with evolution speed;

DJ made up his mind: I'm going with the premium stuff. If I want Weedle to be more

• than just average, I can't cut corners.

After it evolved into Kakuna, he'd switch to nutrient cubes - originally developed in

Hoenn for Pokémon Contests, but now a staple for stat training

Next, he outlined Weedle's training plan.

Step one: physical training - boosting endurance and mobility.

Step two: move drills - refining each attack until it was flawless.

Step three: Creation of new moves, If my guess is right.

No half-baked moves, DJ thought. Doesn't matter how many moves you know if you

can't land them cleanly.

Two Weedle at the same level - one trained hard, one didn't - the difference would be

night and day.

Mastery makes the difference.

He glanced over at the sleeping bug. A small smile crept onto his face.

There was a grove behind his house, full of tall grass and trees. Perfect!tomorrow.

And he wouldn't just watch from the sidelines, either. He'd train with Weedle. Back in his old life, DJ had gone to a boarding school that emphasized fitness He'd even taken a few years of martial arts. He was never the best, but he had decent stamina and knew how to take a hit.

That night, when his dad got home from work, DJ told him everything

His dad simply said, "Take care of it. And if you need money, let me know."

Later, after dinner, Weedle woke up with a soft cry of hunger.

DJ warmed up some milk, dipped a spoon in the honey jar, and offered both.

"Dee~!" Weedle squealed in joy, happily licking the honey and drinking the milk.

After feeding, DJ placed it back on the bed, wrapped in a small blanket.

He returned to his desk, where he studied a few more Pokémon training guides.

Outside, the moon rose high in the night sky. A cool breeze rustled the trees, and a

distant Hoothoot called out softly.

Everything felt peaceful. Everything was just beginning.
