Chapter 5 - the webs

The air in the underground web of Ghoul City thickened like a brewing storm. Whispers slipped through shadowed corridors—rumors of a new ghoul, one no one expected and none dared ignore. In the heart of the Soul Munchers' lair, cold eyes flicked with hunger and suspicion.

"Did you hear?" Yuri's voice dragged through the silence like a knife. "There's a new ghoul in town."

Boss Leader Key's red gaze bore into the dark. "A new player? Interesting..." His voice was a low rumble, calm but charged with menace. "Will she bow to us or stand against us?"

Ten sneered, voice sharp as broken glass. "That swanky witch? Sacrificed by Sakura 678. She's a wild card no one can control."

A slow, dangerous smile crept across Key's face. "Then she's a threat... and a challenge."

The boss's lips curled in slight disdain. "Hm, what a bummer. Waste of potential, really."From beneath the 5th floor, a low rumble signaled movement. A messenger ghosted down to the 678 web with urgent news. Word traveled fast in Ghoul City, and the affair of the new ghoul had stirred all webs into motion.Seven and Shara, loyal protectors of Yuki and part of Sakura's circle, were already on alert. At the boundary between the two rival webs, they intercepted the incoming challenge with fierce resolve.Stepping protectively in front of Yuki, Seven's towering form blocked the others. "Bug off," he growled at the advancing Soul Munchers. But the other members pressed forward, hunger and malice in their eyes.Ten's voice cut through the tension. "I'm hungry."In a blur, Seven and Shara shifted into their ghoul forms—jawlines strengthening, muscles bulging, irises igniting in crimson flames.Yuki trembled, tears streaming down her face, but those tears twisted into cruel Sakura laughter—wild and echoing through the chamber. Her transformation ignited: hair fading to ghostly gray, eyes burning bright red, veins beneath her pale skin protruding like raised cords of power. The Soul Munchers took a step back, fear flashing across hardened faces.Boss Leader Key's intrigued gaze locked on Yuki. "Hm. That's interesting." He turned to his cohorts and bellowed. "Attack her!"Sakura, now fully commanding Yuki's body, let out a chilling laugh that ricocheted off the grim walls. "I'm going to tear you into little pieces like paper milk!" Her voice rang with malice. The battle exploded.Sakura tore through the Soul Munchers' ranks with terrifying speed—her movements a blur of calculated brutality. Seven and Shara fought alongside her, their claws scraping concrete and blood spattering the shadows.Yuri circled from above, launching jagged, brutal attacks, but Sakura's rage burned brighter with every strike. With a final roar, Sakura flew to the rooftop, the wind whipping her hair as she howled into the night. Her cry summoned an army of ghouls from every shadowed corner of Ghoul City.Frightened by the overwhelming power, the Soul Munchers' web began to falter. They regrouped hastily."We'll be back," hissed a retreating voice, a thin promise laced with threat.Later, in the dim corridors of Ghoul City's underbelly, Boss Leader Key convened with his council. Key, their strategist, frowned heavily. "She's powerful. We need her to join us. No other way to control this threat."Ten snarled in frustration. "How the hell do we make that happen? She's best friends with Sakura."Yuri's dark eyes gleamed coldly. "Friendship? Call it by its real name—betrayal. Look how Sakura's used that girl as a puppet to grow stronger."boss paced thoughtfully. "So what's the move, Soul Web? We need a plan few ghouls can resist. One that folds her into our power."The council muttered agreement as the fate of Yuki—and perhaps all of Ghoul City—hung in the balance.
