Chapter 7 - Gifts

Alastor knew he was not normal from a very young age, he was sure children should not have the type of strength he had nor the ability to memorize and understand vast amount of information in moments.

Children even those from Royal lines shouldn't be growing at his rate even his elder brother Varian only started showing advanced bodily maturity after he was was 12.

If anything he had the instinctive feeling he could have grown even more faster if he had some sort of stimuli.

And it was not only that, but he was sure that any normal or whatever normal person that was in his definition shouldn't have memories of another life!

At first these memories appeared in fragments before they became more clear and showed more yet Alastor did not feel any particular strong emotion in regards to them aside from some memories he felt were significant in this past "life"

The world he once called home was called Earth, which confused him on why anyone would call their home "dirt" but aside from that he also found that this world was peaceful. Extremely so!

By the light they only two world wars and no hostile races that were malicious to them only for being human like the Beastkin, Orks and the former Black Iron Dwarves.

Yet he also found that the people of this world seemed to be very mentally challenged in some aspects as well as seeing that even the strongest person of Earth was weaker than a normal commoner on Azeroth.

Alastor found that when these fragments of memories stopped appearing altogether they weren't even complete as significant parts of the collective seemed lost perhaps due to time.

But imagine his surprise as he witnessed fictional works that matched very similarly to his own life in Azeroth.

Alastor eventually came to the conclusion that maybe in some way the humans of this peaceful world had glimpsed into other universes and just maybe perceived them as part of their "imagination" thus giving birth to these stories.

But considering he saw no mention of magic whatsoever aside from in fiction he wasn't very confident in his hypothesis.

Sadly their wasn't much information in his memory about "Warcraft" and "Warhammer 40k and Fantasy" along with other fictional works, most of what information he had seemed to be broad strokes with specialized knowledge coming from videos, stories and discussions and what could be gathered from the source material itself.

That did not mean that Alastor found the information useless instead he had compartmentalized the information he gained from them and any other from this world he even remotely found useful.

He even wrote in books and isolated datapads on his own theories and knowledge that would hopefully bridge some gaps for him which he kept secret.

As for anything else...he honestly didn't care. Yes he might have been someone else once with a life of his own but that was then and this was now.

At this point he was simply Alastor Wrynn, the second prince of Stormwind's royal family even if he wasn't blood related to them.

He did muse this was also why despite this knowledge he was able to act his age when he was a baby till now since at his core he was truly a new-born child in a completely different reality.

But it also answered a question he had on his nature. He was a Primarch, A "son" of the Emperor of mankind.

........and honestly he had absolutely no feelings whatsoever for the Emperor since he never knew him and from what little he could gleam from his fragmented memories nor was he someone he would get along with, so he withheld judgement until the day comes IF they meet.

But he wouldn't beat himself over it or even consider it some great purpose and why would he?

He was Alastor Wrynn, Son of Llane Wrynn. The Emperor's blood might have been the one flowing in his veins but his father was the King of Stormwind and he refused to see it any other way!

Alastor looked up from the book he was reading and lightly threw it up as it floated up to the bookshelf while covered in a light blue aura.

He also found that he had some abilities that were not common to the Warhammer universe or maybe his understanding of it was still shallow.

He remembered that in the last memory fragment he gained he had met with some sort of "man" or at least someone who he recognized as a male, much of the conversation he did no longer remembered but what he did gleam from it was that he was responsible for sending him to this reality.

And before everything went dark and his eyes opened again but within a pod before seeing his father and surrogate uncle, this "man" had given him two gifts.

With a unknown third one he said was a surprise from "someone" else and not him.

One was the power of Psionics, the ability to interact and influence the "world" using the mental energy of the mind and one's own life-force independent of the Warp or as it's called in Azeroth the Aether.

Second was Gandálfr something from another fictional work from his past life which allowed him to gain mastery of any object that was made for combat from the simplest swords, to laser weapons to even vehicles as long as the item was intended for combat.

And boy was it a shock for his mother when she came into his nursery when he was still a baby only to see him levitating his toy knight and dragon while having a play fight.

His parents immediately had the court mage Frederick see to him and even he was shocked speechless when he discovered how the young prince was able to do these things without accessing the Aether!

The Court mage Frederick also discovered that aside from this, the child also had a powerful affinity for magic and encouraged the King and Queen to allow their new son to one day pursue the magical arts as well.

Not long after rumours also spread about how the prodigious second prince was also a budding prodigious Mage as well!

As many people took it as a good omen for the Kingdom seeing how not only was the current king honourable and beloved but his two sons were also very capable.

Then there was Gandalfr. at the age when Alastor was 4 considering his accelerated growth he also started his lessons under his surrogate uncle and Knight Champion, Anduin Lothar.

Alastor would not lie he looked up to Lothar as much as Llane seeing him as a perfect example of not only a fierce warrior but a honourable Knight so to showoff and impress his uncle he defeated the adult opponents using his physical powers and the mastery granted by gandalfr.

And Anduin was impressed and came as Alastor's next opponent.....and proceeded to defeat him.

Alastor was shocked at how he lost or how he didn't even seem to push Anduin much!

And Anduin proceeded to tell him exactly why.

Flashback: I

"You're skill is empty and your blade is hollow" Anduin simply said as he sheath his practice blade much to Alastor's confusion "What?"

"I admit lad you are perhaps the most monstrous boy I had ever seen in my life and one I would ever see to the end of my days"

"It also came as a shock how you were able to wield your blade with the skill of a master despite this being the first time you wielded it, give it a few years and even without my teachings you would be a legend with just that"

Anduin had already seen many of Alastor's miraculous abilities since he was adopted by the Wrynn and started to take any new abilities of his in stride instead.

"But do you know what was your flaw? the very same that many other so called geniuses have?" Anduin poked his forehead "You learn too fast and cause of that you don't "see" things in ways a true master would"

"When you attacked me I bet you came fully reliant on your strength, speed and your abrupt skill and at most made a rudimentary plan of engagement"

Alastor almost blushed in embarrassment at how accurately the brown haired knight had dissected his thought process and couldn't meet his eyes.

How could he forget that Anduin despite not being royalty had a genetic line/bloodline dating directly back to Emperor Thoradin's own and cause of that his powers weren't any less than a Royal's.

Hell his own father admitted that Anduin was stronger than in both skill and body and even without his physical might Anduin was also a extremely skilled swordsman admired around Azeroth as the legendary "Lion of Azeroth".

Suddenly it was no longer shocking how he lost....

"Eyes up Alastor" Taking a deep breath Alastor looked Anduin in the eyes and did not see any disappointment or even indulgence only understanding.

"Let me tell you what in my view a warrior truly is" Anduin looked at him in the eye. "A true warrior is someone who not only trains with his weapon to sharpen his skills but also himself, whether that be his body, his soul or even his mind"

"To walk this path was to walk a path of discovery where you must not only know your weapon but also yourself if you are to truly grow"

"It's okay if you don't understand now just remember these words for one day you will realize your own path not only as a warrior but also as a person" Anduin patted Alastor's shoulder as he gave him a smile.

"In the meantime let's start small as I help you familiarize yourself with other aspects that can influence combat"

After that Alastor's lessons with Anduin included things like discipline, tactics, prediction, instincts, the importance of experience etc before starting him on his training as a Knight.

Flashback end:

It truly thought him a valuable lesson that even with being a Primarch and having these "gifts" he while not strong was not invincible especially at this point of time.

Alastor reminded himself that many great men and women who died in history didn't because of their enemies and rivals but because more often than not their arrogance led to their own fall so he made an extra effort to stay humble yet confident instead.

But one side effect he saw of these gifts was a welcome one. He found that he had Technopathy! any machine or tech he touched he was able to instinctually understand it's inner workings, communicate with it and even command it!

Alastor didn't know if this was his original Primarch trait or just a affinity for tech which was boosted to Technopathy due to his Psionics but he welcomed it anyway.

This made him realize what it felt like to be a super genius in tech as well like this Tony Stark guy from his past memories.

Suffice to say when a Forgemaster of Stormwind's Science Guild came to the Royal palace on his king's behest to give his son some basics to start his "hobby" and saw Alastor's talent and ability first hand.....

The respected Forgemaster all but got on his knees as he begged the King to have his son become a member of the Guild much to bewilderment of King Llane EVEN more when the usually silent Court mage almost came to blow with the Forgemaster on trying to "sabotage" the prince's destiny as a future legendary Archmage!

The poor King felt a headache but also pride at his younger son and when he did talk to Alastor about what he wished to do, it was finally decided that Prince Alastor would train with the Science Guild.

While also pursuing arcane tutelage, training under Anduin Lothar when it came to warfare and combat and learning under Llane and Taria on matters concerning leadership, administration and honour.

And thus another 3 years passed.
