Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Back to 15 year old

Update:tokyo to chiba.

here was nothing—only darkness.

Emiya realized he was already dead. The thought didn't shock him; part of him had always known it might end this way.

He did feel sad—just a little. Still, even in death, there was no regret. He had lived as best as he could, tried to be a decent person, and fought for what mattered.Only Rin lingered in his thoughts. What would happen to her now?Yet he trusted her. She was strong—stronger than him.

He wondered where he would end up. He wasn't exactly a believer, or even particularly religious."But hey… Gilgamesh is two-thirds god," he muttered to himself. So, technically, gods existed.

Then the question became… had he done his god any favors? In theory, that would decide where he was going.

"EMIYA!"

Someone shouted his name.

"Hello?" Shirou replied, looking around, seeing only endless darkness.

Then a bright light appeared, drawing his gaze—calling him silently.

"EMIYA!"

"Guess it's coming from that way…"

He didn't think too deeply about it. He simply walked toward the light, hoping for an escape.

"EMIYA!"

The light swallowed him.

Blue sky. A gentle sky, warm sunlight brushing against him.

"I… am alive?"

There was no pain anywhere. He could feel Avalon working inside his body—protecting him.He should stand up. The fight wasn't over—

ERK—!

A stabbing shock burst through his head. Memories—foreign yet familiar—were forced inside.

"Emiya."

"Son."

"Onii-chan."

"What… whose memories are these?" Shirou's thoughts tangled. They felt like his. Yet—

His parents were alive.

"That… that—"

Old trauma slammed into new memories, clashing violently. He couldn't process it. He screamed.

ARGHH—!

His body jerked uncontrollably, and then—

"Emiya! Calm down! Emiya!"Kudo grabbed him, trying to hold him steady.

"I–I—"

"Stay here, okay, Shirou?" a gentle, motherly voice said.

"I'm sorry… I'm sorry…" Shirou sobbed. "I'm sorry… I couldn't save you two…"

"Oi, Aqua! Hold him down!" Kudo shouted.

Aqua rushed over, grabbing Shirou's shoulders as his trembling intensified, his body shaking like he was having a seizure.

He tried desperately to push the memories away, to silence the fire screaming in the back of his mind.

"Oi."

A silhouette appeared in the distance—in a desert of blades.A sandstorm hid most of the figure, but Shirou knew him.

"Don't be such a pussy."

And with that, the memory of the fire receded, shoved deep into the corner of his mind.

"Ha… ha… ha…"That was not an experience he ever wanted to relive.Never again.

"Right… where… am I—"

He looked around. Two boys—Kudo and Aqua—stood nearby. Not far from them were a peach-haired girl and a long black-haired girl beside a black car. All of them looked about fifteen years old, like…

…him?

Wait—what? He was twenty-one. A magus whose hair was already going white at the ends.

"Hey, Emiya. Are you okay?" Kudo asked.

Aqua smacked him without hesitation. "Oi! What was that for?!"

"Of course he's not okay, dumbass."

"I–I'm fine, Kudo… Aqua."

Kudo? Aqua? Why did those names feel familiar? Why did he instinctively know them?

Shirou slowly stood up, acting as if everything was normal. His eyes drifted to the books scattered across the street. Without hesitation—almost on autopilot—he began collecting them and slipping them back into his bag.

Then he found his phone on the road. The screen was cracked, but still usable.

"I don't… understand…" he whispered. A part of the new memories guided his actions, telling him what needed to be done.

He pocketed the phone.

Then he noticed the dog—the one he had tried to save. It pressed itself against his leg, trembling.

He patted its head, picked up the leash on the ground, and turned. All four of them were staring at him, stunned.

He approached the peach-haired girl.

"Here." He handed over the leash.

"O–oh… thank you."

Shirou glanced at her uniform."You're from the same school as me."

The girl froze slightly. He turned to the black-haired girl.

"Oh, you too, miss. Same school. Sorry for damaging your car. I couldn't let a life—" he glanced at the dog "—die. If necessary, I'll pay for the repairs."

"Y–you don't need to…" she replied softly.

"Oh? That's very kind of you, miss." He smiled politely.

Then he turned to the boys. "Hey, don't you two need to go to school?"There was still an hour left before classes began. He wasn't sure how he knew that—but the memories told him so.

Kudo finally got up. "Um… well? Emiya, are you… actually alright?"

He and Aqua just stared. The way Shirou stood there acting perfectly normal after everything… it was unsettling.

"Hey… you think that car hit him too hard?" Kudo whispered.

"No," Aqua muttered. "I'm starting to wonder if… he's really him."He looked at Shirou—who was smiling like nothing had happened.

They arrived at school—no, his new school.

Sobu High. One of the top schools in Chiba City.

Never in Shirou's life did he imagine repeating high school. His own high school experience had been normal enough… if he ignored the Fifth Holy Grail War.

Now that he thought about it, the peach-haired girl walking her dog earlier—was that even normal? Was she trying to skip school?

"Hey, Kudo," Shirou asked, "what class are you in?"

"1-A," Kudo answered. He turned to Aqua. "And you?"

"Same class as you."

Shirou and Aqua were assigned to C-1, general education. Both of them had fled the science stream as if it were cursed.Kudo, of course, had marched straight into it.

"Haa… why don't you two join me? Now I'm stuck alone," Kudo groaned.

"You think Emiya's crazy for coming to school after getting hit by a car," Aqua said, "but you're even crazier for wanting us to join the science track."

"Aww, come on. It's just calculations and memorizing stuff."

"Hey Emiya, hold me," Aqua said, trying to hit Kudo while Shirou held him back.

"Iyaa, I must be special or something—ha ha ha ha!"Kudo laughed like a certain old man.

Aqua looked at Kudo with outright disgust."You seriously laugh like your girlfriend's father."

"Haa? You crazy? I don't laugh like Uncle Mouri."

"So you're not denying her being your girlfriend?"

Kudo froze."Wait—that! … Well, if you phrase it like that—"

"Shut the fuck up."

"Sorry…"

Kudo finally stormed off toward his classroom, leaving Aqua and Shirou walking together toward theirs.

Shirou glanced at Aqua. "Aqua, just asking… why do you keep teasing Kudo about liking Ran? Doesn't he always deny it?"

From the memories Shirou inherited, he recalled multiple times where Kudo blushed when Aqua teased him. Honestly, he couldn't help being curious about the story between those two kids. Not that he could call him a kid—he's technically a "youngling" now too.

"Because he does like her," Aqua said, hands in his pockets. "And I just like messing with him. Look, Shirou, if a boy keeps bringing a girl to interesting places, what do you think is the reason?"

shirou know the answer

"Because he wants to treat his friend?"

"No. Of course not. It's because he likes her."

"As a friend, right?"

shirou don't know the answer

Aqua stopped walking."You two are idiots."

Once they arrived in their classroom, they looked for an empty desk. Aqua noticed two empty desks, one of which was beside the window. 'There,' he pointed toward it. Then he walked over, with Shirou following behind him.

He sat at the desk near the window, while Shirou took the seat beside him.'Shirou, want to follow me and Kudo to the supermarket after school?'

Shirou thought about it for a moment, wondering if he had anything he needed to do—considering he had only arrived in this world today. But since everything around him seemed normal, he accepted the invitation.

"Sure, why not."

Shirou look around the class, student chatting with each other. Some seems to know each other while seems trying to know each other. It what your first day of highschool usually offer, though for shirou he only sees them as kid with his age.

'Hi you guys!' a feminine voice called from behind them. He turned around, following Aqua's gaze, and saw a group of girls walking toward them.

"'Can we know your names?' asked one of the girls at the front of the group.

'Yeah, yeah, we want to know!' another chimed in.

'Well, my name is Shirou, and this guy beside me is Aqua. Nice to meet you all.' Shirou extended his hand while Aqua simply nodded.

All the girls stared at his hand, a little surprised by how casually he offered a handshake.

The girl in front hesitated for a moment, but eventually reached out to shake his hand anyway.

'My name is Yuki!'

'My name is Yumiko!'

The introductions continued for a little while before the girls returned to their seats as the teacher finally arrived.

A female teacher began writing something on the chalkboard before turning around to face the class.

'Alright everyone, my name is Shizuka Hiratsuka. You can call me Hiratsuka-sensei.

I will be your teacher until… well, until your graduation. Since we'll be seeing each other for a very long time, I expect

good attitude and good effort. If you slack off, I will know, so don't test me.'She gave a small smile—one that somehow felt friendly and intimidating at the same time.

"'Alright, since this is your first day, let's do some ice-breaking…'

The classroom buzzed with thirty voices, each student taking turns to introduce themselves—name, where they lived, hobbies. Shirou listened quietly, noting names and faces, though his mind wandered elsewhere. Every small detail of this world—the way the sunlight hit the classroom walls, the faint scent of chalk and paper—felt strange yet familiar, like stepping into someone else's memory.

Time skip.

It was lunchtime. Shirou closed his notebook carefully, slid it into his bag, and rose from his seat.

'Hey Shirou, do you want to eat with me and Kudo?' Aqua asked. Before Shirou could answer, a familiar voice resonated inside him, calm yet urgent.

'Master, are you there?'

Shirou's eyes darted around the classroom. Everyone else seemed absorbed in their own conversations. No one noticed, no one reacted.'Karna?' he muttered under his breath. His chest tightened slightly—there was no mistaking that voice.

'I'm at the top of this building if you want to meet me.'

Shirou's hand clenched on his bag strap.'Sorry, Aqua… I have something I need to take care of.'Without another word, he sprinted from the classroom.

'Oi—uh…' Aqua's voice trailed off, a sigh escaping him. He didn't even try to stop Shirou. Something told him that this wasn't recklessness—it was necessity.

As he walked, Aqua sensed another presence approaching. Looking up, he saw the same group of girls from earlier, their curious eyes watching him.'Hey, you seem to be alone… want to eat with us?''Uhh…' Shirou barely registered the offer. His focus was elsewhere.

Shirou reached the rooftop door. His fingers grazed the cold metal of the knob—it wasn't locked. He pushed it open, stepping into the rooftop space. The wind hit him immediately, carrying the faint scent of the city and concrete. He closed the door softly behind him.

'Karna, where are you?' he called, his voice quieter than he expected, almost swallowed by the breeze. His eyes scanned the empty rooftop. Nothing moved.

Then he heard it—footsteps, slow and deliberate. He turned. A shadow emerged, stepping out from the darker corners of the rooftop. Pale skin, long, tangled white hair, and eyes of striking teal that seemed to pierce straight through the air.

In his hands was the familiar weapon—Brahmastra Kundala, a sword-like spear that radiated latent power, its presence alone pressing on Shirou's chest.

'Seems like you're still alive and well…' Karna said, studying him. His gaze lingered longer than Shirou expected, noting his shorter frame, yet the face was unchanged.

'I know, I know. But it seems you're in the same situation I am,' Shirou replied, studying his Servant. Both had changed. Once, at twenty-one, Shirou had matched Archer's height, and Lancer had been slightly shorter. Now, in this world, they were roughly the same height—around five foot seven.

'Oh… I didn't notice that. I thought everyone here would be taller,' Karna said with a faint smile, almost bemused.

Shirou understood. Karna's attention had never been on trivial details; his focus was always on precision, on the next action.

'So… do you know why we ended up here?' Shirou asked, trying to keep his voice steady despite the tension curling in his chest. 'And… could you put away your spear? Anyone near it could feel the pressure.'

'I see.' Karna lowered the spear and changed into simpler, more ordinary clothes. Even in casual attire, his presence carried weight—subtle but undeniable.

'He sure knows how to pick his clothes,' Shirou muttered quietly, a smirk forming despite the strange, tense atmosphere.

'I… don't really know,' Karna admitted, eyes drifting toward the horizon beyond the rooftop. 'The last thing I remember… was sensing a divine energy nearby.'

'Divine energy? Are you sure it wasn't just Ea's attack?'

'Negative, Master. That attack would have killed us, surely, yet we survived. I do not believe it was mere chance. Someone… sent you here.'

'Sent me?' Shirou frowned.

Karna nodded slowly. 'Yes. I had not traveled to this world until I began searching for you. The moment I attempted to locate you… I arrived here as well.'

Shirou let the words sink in. A strange calm settled over him. This wasn't just random fate. Shirou felt the possibility of someone ..

"'Do you think there's someone—or something—that sent us here?' Lancer asked.

'It's a possibility,' Shirou replied, frowning. 'But for what purpose?'

What could they want from them? And why protect them in the first place?

'Have you noticed any danger around this area?'

Shirou paused, thinking carefully. Something felt… off about this world, even if nothing seemed wrong at first glance. It reminded him of his thoughts before the Fifth Holy Grail War—when everything appeared normal, yet a hidden threat always lingered.

'So far… well, there's a dragon nearby,' Lancer said casually.

Shirou's eyes widened. (Dragon?) He paused, realizing something was strange about that statement.

'Dragon? Like… an actual dragon from the Age of Gods? A literal flying dragon?'

He had heard about them in Sir Waver's lecture—highly classified, the pinnacle of Phantasmal Species. Dragons existed in all three classes of Phantasmal Species and were considered the greatest within each category.

Magical, Phantasmal, and Divine Dragons had mingled with humanity since before the Age of Gods, leaving countless legends in the field of Thaumaturgy. They had walked among humans freely, shaping myths and histories that survived to this day.

'Isn't that… bad?' Shirou whispered, his mind racing.

'Well,' Lancer replied, 'I don't believe so. From what I sense, it's merely sitting inside some sort of shrine. For now, I detect no hostility from it.'

Shirou exhaled slowly. (W-well, that's… good, I guess…) But instinctively, he gripped his hand as if he gripped the hilt of his sword. Something about this world told him he should always be ready, even when nothing seemed immediately.

'But this world surprisingly has dense energy,' Lancer said calmly. It wasn't exactly mana or prana, but it was usable by him.

He glanced at his Master's hand. A bright light began to glow, and a small smile appeared on his face.

'Seems like you've regained your Command Seals, Master.'

Shirou stared in confusion. He looked down—and saw all three Command Seals clearly marked on his hand.

He was stunned. He had already used all his Command Seals on Karna… how had they returned?

'Looks like our journey in this world might not be… easy,' Lancer said with a faint chuckle.

Shirou felt it too—a subtle tension in the air, a sense that something significant was coming. Yet he believed he and his Servant could face whatever lay ahead together.

The bell ring, indicate the ending of the lunch break time.

'Well, I need to go now. Please continue scouting, Karna,' he said.

'Understood.' Lancer entered his Spirit Form and instantly teleported away.

Shirou exhaled, a small relief settling over him. He wasn't entirely alone in this world. But he still had one pressing task for the day—living as a high school student in his new body.

He began walking toward the exit of the rooftop, already thinking about what he needed to do next, when a faint voice caught his attention.

'Th‑that's crazy…'

Shirou froze. His ears had barely registered it, but it sounded like a girl's voice. He glanced up without really meaning to—and saw a girl with a blue ponytail standing a little way off, eyes wide, clearly having overheard part of his conversation.

He felt a flush rise to his face. 'Sh…t,' was all he could think to say.He immediately realized just how complicated his day was about to get
