Chapter 4 - PROMISE

Terrmomix quickly adapted to the training with his master and the other students, gaining confidence and forming strong friendships.

After some time, Terrmomix finally felt comfortable—as if life was beginning to smile at him again. He had formed a close bond with one of the students named Marco, and the two had become best friends.

Happiness truly returned to his life, especially because Vexana, after spending so much time with him, began developing romantic feelings for Terrmomix. He noticed it, but since he didn't know what to do in a situation like that, he never made the first move. He was scared of ruining everything.

Until one day, Vexana gathered her courage and invited Terrmomix to a field full of beautiful flowers—roses, tulips, sunflowers, and more, filling the entire place with vibrant life. In the late afternoon, Vexana waited nervously at the center of the field for Terrmomix. A few minutes later, he arrived and approached her.

"Uh… hi, Vexana," Terrmomix said nervously.

"Hi, Terrmomix. I'm really glad you actually came," Vexana replied with a gentle, joyful smile.

"Of course… I couldn't leave you waiting here. But… why did you bring me to this place?" Terrmomix asked.

Vexana's cheeks turned a light shade of red as she nervously looked away. The sunset's warm glow illuminated her face, enhancing her beauty even more.

"Well… it's because I… wanted to tell you something I've been wanting to say for a long time," she said.

Vexana took a deep breath, preparing herself. Then she looked straight into Terrmomix's eyes and confessed:

"It's just that… I… I've been in love with you for a while now. I really like you. I'm sorry for being so direct…"

Terrmomix's eyes widened. His hand trembled—he had no idea what to do or what to say. He had never been in a situation like this before.

"Ah… I just… no one has ever confessed to me before. I don't know what to tell you," he said nervously.

"Don't worry. Just say what your heart feels. Whatever your answer is, I'll accept it," Vexana said with a hopeful yet understanding smile.

Terrmomix lowered his head slightly—an unmistakable gesture of rejection.

"I'm sorry, Vexana… but I don't know what to tell you. I've never felt the same way you feel about me…" Terrmomix said apologetically.

Vexana held back her tears—they threatened to fall, but she had promised herself she would accept any answer. Yet before she could respond, Terrmomix continued:

"Right now… I can't accept your feelings. But… I can promise you that I'll try to feel the same someday. And in the future… we can get married and live our lives together."

He said it with a sincere smile—a promise he intended to keep.

Vexana's eyes lit up. Tears now fell freely, but they were tears of happiness. With a bright smile, she rushed forward and hugged Terrmomix tightly.

"Then it's a promise, Terrmomix! I'll wait until you feel the same as I do, and someday… we'll get married. I'll wait for you," she said, her voice trembling with emotion.

Terrmomix, unsure of what else to do, hugged her back—sealing their promise for the future.

When they returned to the cabin, Vexana, unable to contain her joy, ran to tell her father and little sister. Inside, Son and Roberta sat at the table with the other students, already preparing to eat. Vexana burst in excitedly.

"Father, little sister, everyone—I have something to tell you! Terrmomix and I promised to get married in the future!" she announced with a beaming smile.

Everyone was shocked. Marco even choked on a piece of food. Son looked at Terrmomix and asked:

"Is that true, Terrmomix?"

"Y-yes… it's true. I know it's very soon, but we wanted to ask for your permission to keep this promise and marry someday," Terrmomix said nervously.

"Of course you have my permission. If both of you agree, then so do I. You have my blessing," Son said happily for his daughter.

"You have my permission too, big sister!" Roberta added in a childish tone, understanding the situation just enough.

Smiling happily with everyone's support, Vexana and Terrmomix felt relieved. Then Shin, one of Son's students, raised a glass of juice and said cheerfully:

"Then let's toast and eat to celebrate Terrmomix and Vexana's future marriage! This doesn't happen every day!"

Everyone agreed. Vexana grabbed Terrmomix by the arm and pulled him toward the table. They sat down and everyone began eating and celebrating—a moment filled with joy and warmth.

As the night went on, all the students eventually fell asleep from eating too much. Roberta and Vexana fell asleep as well. Terrmomix placed a blanket over Vexana, and when he noticed Son outside the cabin, he went to join him.

"You really surprised me, Terrmomix. I never thought something like that would happen. Vexana looked so happy," Son said as he gazed at the starry night sky.

"Yes… I'm sure it was surprising. I'm sorry if you think I shouldn't have done it," Terrmomix replied.

Son turned toward him with a gentle smile.

"You don't need to apologize. I trust you, Terrmomix. I know you'll make her happy… and protect her with your life."

"I promise I will. I'll protect her from anything that tries to hurt her. Thank you for trusting me… Father-in-law," Terrmomix said nervously but with a smile.

Son was surprised at first, but then he chuckled softly and looked back up at the stars. Terrmomix stood beside him, looking at the same sky—silently wishing for the strength to protect Vexana and everyone he cared about.
