Chapter 254 - Chapter 254 The Reaction of the Nine-Headed Serpent

However, Bucky Barnes was completely under the control of brainwashing technology. Even a very important friend like Steve Rogers couldn't easily restore Bucky Barnes to his former self. That would definitely require a brainwashing process of some time.

"Ah," I said, "these matters are no longer within SHIELD's jurisdiction. If you have anything, talk to the Avengers!" Nick Fury shrugged, smiling, when he saw that Steve Rogers had no intention of listening.

He was about to leave Earth and go into space, and he couldn't help but get involved in these matters again. It was good to have other HYDRA branches; they were also a kind of balancing factor for the Avengers.

"Steve! Calm down. Let's tie him up first. From his appearance, it looks like he's being controlled by someone. There must be a way to turn him back to his old self!" Logan walked over to Steve Rogers, patted him lightly on the shoulder, and said, "Remember, you're the commander of the Avengers, and there are still people out there who want to negotiate with you!"

Logan was quite used to being controlled and even brainwashed. After all, Yuriko had previously been subjected to brainwashing and control by William Stryker, but ultimately Huang Wen had helped Yuriko recover.

"Spider Trio, tie up Bucky and then capture all the remaining HYDRA members. We..." Steve Rogers took a deep breath, slowly regaining his composure. He looked at the Spider Trio, who were giving orders, and suddenly stopped.

Because once HYDRA was at a disadvantage, the SHIELD agents had no intention of stopping. They were already completely insane, so only Alexander Pierce and Bucky Barnes remained among all the HYDRA members at SHIELD.

But what Steve Rogers and the others didn't know was that Senator Gideon Malick, the man to whom Zola had sworn allegiance, was living in a secret mansion in the United States at the time.

However, Gideon Malick's statement suddenly changed because he had received a message from Zola that Alexander Pierce would betray all of HYDRA for his own life!

"Damn it! Is there no way to deal with this traitor?" Gideon Malick angrily asked Zola.

"I'm afraid not, sir. All the lower-ranking HYDRA members possess poisons that can control life and death, but leaders like you and Alexander Pierce are uncontrollable. I suppose you wouldn't want to be controlled either..." Zola's calm voice echoed.

"Moreover, HYDRA within SHIELD has been completely destroyed. There are no executioners left who would rather die than surrender and who could kill Alexander Pierce!"

"Therefore, we cannot stop Alexander Pierce. However, over the years, other branches have grown stronger with the power of SHIELD. It's just a matter of changing nests and identities!"

"There they are! Do you know how much money our family spent to get to where we are today?" Gideon Malick asked in a deep voice.

"Security comes first, at all costs, right?" Zola asked. "What needs to be done now is to immediately sever all ties with SHIELD. After all, you never revealed your true identities at any of your secret meetings. As long as the ties are severed, Pierce cannot provide accurate information and expose the Malick family!"

In fact, this was one of the reasons why HYDRA couldn't be destroyed for so long. They were extremely wary of each other, and apart from the slogan "Long live HYDRA," people from different factions wouldn't recognize each other if they met on the street.

Aside from Alexander Pierce, who revealed his identity the most, even the leaders of each unit only had a code name and an ambiguous appearance.

Alexander Pierce revealed his identity because he wanted to ensure his SHIELD branch was the most developed and that he would become the leader among all HYDRA branches.

"It seems this is the only way!" Gideon Malick took a deep breath and immediately gave the order. This matter was urgent because it was unknown when Alexander Pierce would reveal everything about HYDRA.

"Mr. Malick, please don't forget to move my computer and transfer my consciousness to the latest generation of supercomputers..." Zola breathed a sigh of relief when Gideon Malick accepted his suggestion and quickly reminded him.

"Understood. But from now on, you no longer need to concern yourself with the previous HYDRA matters. You will have only one plan: to reclaim the Hive!" Gideon Malick's eyes gleamed, and he said in a deep voice, "If you also intend to betray me, I will show you what cruelty is!"

"Don't worry, Mr. Malick. I wouldn't have betrayed anyone if Pierce hadn't tried to bring me down. From now on, I will wholeheartedly help the Malick family welcome the Hive back!" Zola quickly declared his allegiance.

Alexander Pierce was unaware that his path to survival had been cut short. Even after escaping the spiderweb, he indicated his loyalty and sincerity by stating that his headset was still connected to HYDRA, with a HYDRA listening device at the other end.

"Jarvis, watch the signal coming from your headset!" Tony Stark's eyes narrowed, and he quickly ordered Jarvis.

"I apologize, sir. I detected a signal just before my release, but it was cut off before I could locate its source!" Jarvis's voice, tinged with regret, caused Tony Stark to frown.

"There's no trace." Tony Stark looked at Steve Rogers, shook his head, and whispered.

"Okay, let's go back first. There are a lot of people here and it's really a bit messy..." Steve Rogers looked at Bucky Barnes, who was still struggling in the spiderweb, his eyes showing traces of unbearable pain, and said.

"Going back? Where? To the martial arts gym? Come on, that's not our base either!" Tony Stark said, a little surprised, "We can't always run there, can we? Besides, it's still open and the weird looks from the students on the first floor always bother me!"

"So where are we going?" Steve Rogers asked Tony Stark, frowning.

"Never mind, let's get back to the martial arts gym first. I bought a building outside of Chinatown and I plan to make it our base, but it's still under construction. We'll talk when it's finished!" Tony Stark said nonchalantly.
