Chapter 2 - Chapter Two: Deja Vu?

Adelaine is now 25 years old and employed. She's working as a barista and meets a girl she likes.

Adelaine feels as though she's met her before, but has she? Probably a false sense of deja vu.

She couldn't remember anything from her childhood nor her teens, because she 'snapped' into her consciousness at nineteen (19) years old.

Now let's backtrack to how she met this person.

Adelaine was working as usual, when a gorgeous woman walked into the cafe, wearing a comfortable sweater and glasses.

"Hello, what would you like?" Adelaine asks politely, the woman gives her a soft smile to which she returns.

"I would like a small Latte, please." The woman says and adelaine nods, grabbing a cup and a marker to write down the customer's name.

"Your name?" Adelaine asks, and the woman replied with, "my name is Cleo." Cool name.

She mentally noted and wrote it on the cup. "Please go sit somewhere while you wait." Adelaine turns to make her the drink, switching positions with her co-worker who is now the cashier.

The day after and after, Cleo started coming to the cafe more often. Once adelaine sees her walking into the cafe, she smirks and says, 'the usual?' and Cleo nods.

It was part of their routine. On a free day, Cleo sometimes asks her to hang out or somewhere. Sometimes it's the mall, or on a picnic, maybe a hike here and there.

Adelaine's phone is never silent, and when it is, it's followed by a barrage of messages of 'Im sorry I didn't text you!!' 'ur not mad right??' etc.

Yes, she feels like she had met her before. Once, adelaine had a dream and in that dream, she was standing in a field of flowers.

Far away from her, is a blurred but beautiful figure. Their long, flowy hair cascading down. The figure was wearing a white elegant gown.

Features were blurred but beautiful nonetheless. Adelaine could only get a glimpse of their face before they turned away and ran into the far distance.

Adelaine unconsciously started chasing after that figure.

"Hey— wait!" Adelaine shouts, but the figure doesn't turn back even once. She sped up her running and started to catch up.

But the figure was faster, they were insanely fast. Adelaine could've sworn she saw a white halo on her head before disappearing.

The background faded into a road and adelaine stopped running as the figure continued running.

Then, she saw a car coming and yelled at figure to stop. "There's a car coming!" That didn't stop them, they got ran over by the car.

Blood splatted across the pavement, and on her face as well. "Huh..?" She touched the blood on her face, it felt real— so why didn't this feel like it isn't?

Adelaine woke up with a gasp, breathing heavily. Sweat on her face. "W-what..was that?" She gasped, it felt too real to be a dream.

Whatever, I don't recognize the person anyways. But she felt an agonizing despair, as if she knew that person for years.

Her phone lit up and her hands instinctively went to reach for it. Cleo had sent a message saying 'Heyyy you wanna go out??'

Adelaine texted back with a smile, 'yeah sure. We going for a picnic?' and grins when Cleo sent a sticker doing a thumbs up.

She had forgot about the dream entirely—yes it took her seconds to forget— and sat up from the bed, walking over to the closet.

The barista job has a decent salary, a good boss who treats everyone equally and kind co-workers.

The salary is enough for one person to live in an apartment like Adelaine's. The cafe interior is decorated comfortably and clean seats, floors, etc.

Adelaine for ready and headed out for the door.
