Chapter 45 - The Realm That Shouldn’t Exist

Darkness cocooned her.Light clawed through it.Her heartbeat echoed like a war drum in a void that felt older than creation itself.

Amelia floated—weightless, voiceless, breathless—inside a realm that wasn't supposed to exist.

Not Heaven. Not the Shadow Dominion. Not the mortal world.

Something between.

Something made of both.

A realm shaped from the fracture between her two names.

The place the prophecy never dared mention.

A place born the moment she took both hands.

The In-Between Realm

Her feet touched ground—not quite solid, not quite air.A shimmering surface, like starlight frozen into glass, stretched endlessly beneath her.

Above her?

Nothing.

No sky.No sun.No moon.Only swirling streams of gold and black fire, twisting together like serpents.

Amelia whispered, voice trembling:

"Where… am I?"

The realm answered.

A whisper—thousands of them—braiding through the air.

"Between dawn… and dusk…Between the names… you tried to deny…"

Her pulse stuttered.

"Solyn?" she whispered into the shadows."Serael?"

The whispers laughed softly.

"No.Not memory. Not past.We are the echoes of what you could become."

Amelia swallowed hard.

"Then why am I here?"

The ground beneath her feet rippled like disturbed water.

"To force a choice you refused to make."

Her breath froze.

Because for the first timein both lives,in all her memories,Amelia wasn't the girl torn between light and shadow—

She was the one holding them both.

And that made her a threat.

To Heaven. To the Shadow Dominion. To the balance of fate.

And to herself.

Kael's Panic

Far outside the sealed realm—

Kael was losing his mind.

His wings were shredded at the edges from trying to tear open the vortex.Blood dripped down his arms. His breath came in sharp, ragged pulls.

"She's gone," one of the elder celestials whispered.

Kael slammed him into a wall with one hand, fury cracking through him like lightning.

"She is NOT gone. She is trapped. There's a difference."

The elder gasped."Kael—this is the In-Between Realm—no one returns from it."

Kael's teeth bared.

"She will."

"Because you believe she can?"

"Because I know her."

He looked at the collapsed space where Amelia vanished.

"She's stronger than all of you ever let her be."

Behind him, someone laughed softly.

Not mocking.

Knowing.

Raeth.

His chains smoldered, shadows writhing around him like hungry wolves.

"She will return," Raeth murmured, voice low and sure.

Kael spun on him.

"You don't know that."

Raeth smiled with his third eye glowing faintly.

"Little light doesn't die in the places fate doesn't understand."

Kael's hands tightened.

"You can't reach her either."

Raeth's smile widened.

"No.But she will reach us."

Back in the In-Between Realm

The realm began to pulse—slowly, like a giant waking from sleep.

Amelia clutched her head as images flashed across her mind:

Herself as Serael—gold wings, healing light.Herself as Solyn—shadow fire, forbidden power.Herself dying in Kael's arms.Herself chained beside Raeth.

Her past.Her futures.Her deaths.Her possible lives.

Everything.

"Stop," she gasped, falling to her knees."STOP!"

The flashes ceased instantly.

The whispers returned.

"Then choose."

Amelia lifted her head.

"Choose what?"

The realm darkened.Light trembled.

"Choose who you are."

She shook her head violently.

"No. I don't want to break myself again."

The whispers sighed.

"You must choose…not one half…but the path forward."

Amelia swallowed.

"I… don't understand."

A figure formed in the swirling gold-black fire—a silhouette with her shapeher voiceher aura.

Her.

But refined.Terrifying.Beautiful.Complete.

"We are what you become if you stop running," the figure said.

"What I become… as who?"

The figure smiled without light.

"As Amelia Serael Solyn."

Her three names in one.

Her destiny unbroken.

Her power unbound.

Amelia's breath hitched.

"If I take that path… what happens?"

The figure stepped closer, eyes glowing dusk-gold.

"You stop belonging to the light. You stop belonging to the shadow. You stop being controlled."

A pause.

"You become the one who rewrites fate instead of following it."

Amelia's heart thundered.

"And if I don't choose it?"

The whispers answered.

"Then you return to your world torn apart—and the next time you break, you will not survive."

A silence deeper than death settled around her.

Then—

Slowly—Amelia stood.

Her eyes burned.

"I choose…"

She lifted her chin.

"…to stop being afraid of myself."

The realm trembled.

The figure nodded.

"Then the reckoning begins."
