"Why am I in such an expensive hospital room?" Mianmian asked hoarsely.
She slowly pushed herself up and leaned against the headboard. A thick gauze bandage was wrapped around her head.
Yuqi and Yuze exchanged guilty glances.
"Well… actually, it's because of Mr. Mo Yi..."
Before Yuqi could finish the sentence, the hospital door opened.
A young, handsome doctor walked in, speaking with Mo Yichen as they entered together. The two seemed to be in the middle of a smooth conversation, which made it obvious they knew each other well.
What is he doing here?! Mianmian screamed inwardly, completely confused.
"Mianmian," Yuqi whispered beside her, nudging her arm and giving her a playful wink.
Mianmian frowned.
"Oh, perfect timing!" Yuqi said brightly. "We were just telling Mianmian how you saved her life."
Yuze let out a quiet groan, unable to hide the jealousy on his face as he remembered the moment Mo Yichen carried Mianmian in his arms yesterday.
He saved me?
Mianmian's mind froze.
The last thing she remembered was Mr. Yao attacking her… and then her head hitting the wall.
So how exactly did Mo Yichen appear?
"My friend's heart is usually made of stone," the doctor joked lightly. "But it seems it softened this time."
He glanced at Mo Yichen, hoping for a reaction.
Mo Yichen's expression remained cold and unreadable.
The doctor's smile quickly disappeared. He cleared his throat awkwardly.
"I'd like to speak with Miss Mianmian alone."
"Oh... okay," Yuqi said quickly, grabbing Yuze's arm and dragging him toward the door.
Yuze frowned. "Wait. Didn't the doctor say he wants to be alone with her? Why is Mr. Mo..."
Yuqi stopped and stared at him like he had just asked the dumbest question in the world.
Is Yuze really thisdense? she thought.
Clearly they needed privacy.
Mo Yichen's gaze narrowed slightly.
He had also been wondering who exactly this man was in Mianmian's life.
Yesterday, when he tried to carry Mianmian out of the office, this same guy had stopped him and insisted on helping her himself.
Mo Yichen didn't like that.
"I'm sorry about him," Yuqi said quickly, bowing slightly.
Before Yuze could argue further, she dragged him outside and shut the door.
The room fell silent.
Mo Yichen looked at Mianmian, who was still staring at him in confusion.
Without saying anything, he walked calmly to the sofa at the foot of her bed and sat down. Crossing his long legs, he rested one arm on the armrest.
His sharp, composed gaze settled on her.
"Why did you send my friends away?" Mianmian asked coldly.
"Because I don't want anything disturbing you," Mo Yichen replied calmly.
His voice was low, steady, and completely unbothered.
"Anything?!" Mianmian snapped.
The doctor sighed.
"Miss Mianmian, please don't raise your voice. It's not good for your condition."
He glanced at Mo Yichen with a warning look.
Mianmian pressed her lips together.
Her head was already beginning to ache again.
Still, she couldn't understand how this man had the audacity to refer to her friends as 'anything.'
She shot Mo Yichen one last dirty look before turning back to the doctor.
"Miss Mianmian," the doctor said gently.
"Do you remember what happened yesterday?"
