Chapter 16: Feeling Uncomfortable All Over
Yu Jian said, "In every meditation room around this training ground, there is a stone pillar like this. Under each stone pillar is the skeleton of an Earth Demon Bear."
Yu Tianlin frowned. "The skeleton of the Earth Demon Bear?"
"Yes, the remains of the Earth Demon Bear," Yu Jian explained. "After reaching the thousand year level, the Earth Demon Bear, as a type of spirit beast, gains the ability to amplify gravity."
"As long as the Earth Demon Bear dies of natural causes, its skeleton will retain a portion of its gravity amplification ability, and this effect lasts for a long time."
"Of course, killing an Earth Demon Bear is not difficult for our Blue Lightning Tyrant Clan, but only the remains of Earth Demon Bears that die naturally have this ability. He vividly remembered that during the Shrek Seven Devils' training, even when they were twelve years old and above rank twenty five, the weight they carried wasn't even fifty pounds. Yet they still ran until they were half dead.
He was only six, only level eleven, and suddenly subjected to double gravity—without being allowed to use spirit power.
No, this was not ordinary training. This was Yu Jian deliberately making life difficult for him.
"Alright, alright," Yu Jian laughed. "Tianlin, although it's double gravity, it's not the same as actually carrying fifty pounds."
"Gravity acts on every part of your body, so the increased weight is distributed. Even with double gravity, once you get used to it, you can bear it."

Yu Jian's voice carried a distinct meaning. Yu Tianlin could feel it. His heart tightened, and unease crept up on him.
Wait a minute… am I forgetting something?
"Thump… Thump… Thump…"
Suddenly, Yu Tianlin felt his heartbeat grow louder and faster. His blood rushed through his veins like a roaring river, the sound booming in his ears.
His vision darkened.
His entire body went weak as he dropped to his knees.
His face turned pale as he spoke weakly, "Oh no… why does it feel like this?"
Yu Jian did not help him up but instead reminded loudly, "Are you having trouble breathing? Take deep breaths. Adjust your breathing rhythm."
"Breathe… breathe…"
Following Yu Jian's guidance, Yu Tianlin took deep breaths. After a few minutes, the discomfort lessened, but his entire body still felt impossibly heavy.
Once his condition stabilized, he struggled to stand up. Although his stance was unsteady, he had clearly adapted to the current gravity field.
Yu Tianlin looked at Yu Jian. "Uncle Yu Jian, what happened just now? Why did I feel so uncomfortable?"
"Oh? You adapted so quickly. Your physical condition is better than I expected."
Yu Jian was surprised by how fast Yu Tianlin adjusted but still explained, "Tianlin, didn't you just say gravity acts on every part of the body?"
"It acts on every part…"
Yu Tianlin's heart trembled. He instantly understood.
