Leonardo's POV
I exchanged a quick look with Veronica before crouching down to Annick's level. "Sweetheart, things are going to change a little. You'll be staying here with me, Mommy, your brothers, and Grandma Cecile. Grandma Rose and Aunt Mindy won't be around as much—they have their own responsibilities to handle."
Annick's brow furrowed for a moment, processing this. Then she gave a small nod. "Okay!"
She didn't push back, probably figuring they'd visit once their schedules cleared up.
Her brothers immediately swarmed around her, dragging her into their games. Within minutes, she'd forgotten all about asking for her grandmother and aunt.
Cecile watched the kids play, her shoulders sagging with relief before she turned to Veronica. "Veronica, I can't thank you enough. You've sacrificed so much for this family, and we've given you nothing in return."
