"I need to ensure you're eating properly," I said while unwrapping a package of chocolate cookies for Phoebe.
Phoebe seemed to contemplate for a moment as she dutifully nibbled on them, as if she had resigned herself to just eating.

When evening arrived, the Ramona Bar was crowded and vibrant, with every private booth and VIP section filled with chatter and energy.
Tonight, Lucas had asked Harold, Alan, and Ross to come hang out. The bar manager had made sure to alert the head security guard well beforehand.
"Anyone who tries to start trouble tonight gets thrown out—no questions asked. We cannot allow anyone to ruin the evening for those VIPs," the manager declared.
Moreover, Lucas had specified that Harold would be bringing his girlfriend, so everyone was being extra careful, particularly mindful not to make any mistakes.
