Wrapped in a crimson knit robe, Katie flung her wine glass against the wall in fury. She pushed her lover aside and stalked to the massive windows, her tone razor-sharp as she spoke into her phone. "You're certain about this? Did Shawn say it himself?"
"Absolutely, our contact heard it directly from him. There's no question," came the response.
Katie's fingers clenched around her phone until her knuckles went bone-white. "Get Phoebe removed from that list."
"That's going to be difficult. Mr. Russell extended the invitation personally. Plus, Mr. Bailey and Mr. Quinton were both there backing it. But if we plant someone on the inside, we could still make things... complicated for Phoebe later," the voice suggested.
Rage coursed through Katie as she thought, 'Phoebe took my place on that classified research team. She'll regret it.' Without missing a beat, she answered, "Do it. Research projects have mishaps all the time. Fatal ones aren't uncommon."
