Phoebe's POV
At six-thirty sharp, I pulled my motorcycle up to the gates of the Hale family villa. A servant stood waiting, and when she spotted me arriving right on schedule, her face brightened with genuine warmth. "Miss Hale, welcome back! Mr. Hale and the family have been expecting you. Please, do come in."
I gave her a nod, setting my helmet on the bike. "Sure thing."
This was the same woman who used to slip me extra portions whenever I was around during my time living with the Hale family. I'd always liked her—she was one of the few decent people in this place, so I made sure to treat her kindly.
She walked me inside, her smile never fading. "Mr. Hale, Miss Hale has arrived."
The entire Hale clan sat clustered in the living room, exactly like that first day I'd returned to this house. All four heads swiveled toward the entrance in perfect synchronization.
