Nathalia's forehead creased as she dropped her voice to a whisper, "Why didn't you stash it in your bedroom?"
But Patty had never planned that far ahead.
Sergio watched the quick exchange between mother and daughter, then snapped harshly, "What's your scheme now? Don't try to dodge the real problem. You started this fight. We haven't wronged you—we've given you excellent meals and drinks, treated you well, and this is how you pay us back?"
I narrowed my eyes and, without hesitation, slammed my foot down hard on Atticus's hand. As his agonized shriek filled the air, I spoke in a low, icy tone, "This is my house. So why would I need your pathetic hospitality?"
After I'd taken down the bodyguards with just a few swift moves, none of them dared approach again. The Hale family might not have grasped how capable I really was, but the bodyguards understood perfectly. I was nothing like the worthless faker Sergio painted me as.
