Everything suddenly clicked into place. In the small town of Coralia, apart from my family, Burton was the only one who seemed to harbor any resentment toward me.
I frowned, trying to piece it together. "But what did I actually do to Burton?"
The only incident I could recall was being with Harold when Burton got injured. If he truly couldn't move past that humiliation and wanted payback, wouldn't it make more sense to target Harold?
So why would he contact the Hacker Alliance and put a bounty on my head? What kind of warped logic was that?
How pathetic.
It seemed the people supporting Burton were just as corrupt as he was.
My expression hardened as my fingers danced across the keyboard, pulling up the Burton family's records on my monitor.
The deeper I dug, the more puzzling everything became.
