Phoebe's POV
The young man's comments made the wheezing old man chuckle. "You think you can take them down? Harold and Phoebe aren't like those other targets you've been playing with. They won't go down easy."
The young man shot back, "So what? Everyone else fails because they're obvious enemies. The second Harold spots them, he knows they're coming for blood."
Despite his smile, the darkness and savagery flickering in his eyes sent chills down spines. "Grandpa, don't forget—my brother and Charlies are still tight."
The old man exploded into laughter, his fury completely dissolving. "Perfect. That's my grandson for you. I'll be expecting great news."

After sleeping in, I didn't immediately climb out of bed. Instead, I rolled over and curled into Harold's arms as he sat on the bed's edge, laptop balanced on his knees.
"Hey there, good mor...afternoon." I'd started to say morning, but one glance at the time display made me switch mid-word.
