Harold's POV
The appointed time, West Sea.
I pulled into the marina parking lot right on schedule.
The dying sun painted the water in brilliant gold and orange, the endless surface catching fire with reflected light.
From where I sat, the view was both stunning and intimidating.
The beach was packed today. Most visitors had come for the sunset show.
But this cheerful atmosphere was nothing more than a front.
Plenty of unwelcome shadows were mixed in with the crowd.
After all, genuine tourists don't keep scanning their surroundings anxiously or try to hide behind other people's silhouettes.
"Holy crap! Look at all these people!" Charlies jumped out of the car, eyes wide at the chaos, and headed straight for the crowd.
Malcolm snagged him by the collar before he could bolt. "Stay put. Mr. Bailey's not ready yet."
Charlies had no option but to wait like a good boy. "Oh, right."
