Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Nuclear Crisis in New York

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle!

Amidst the brilliant, dazzling light, a hole large enough for a person to enter was quickly cut into the fighter jet.

Iron Man and the surrounding Nick Fury and others couldn't help but show a hint of excitement on their faces, eager to immediately dive in and investigate.

However, just as Iron Man was about to fly into the fighter jet first to check if Captain America was inside, a familiar scene suddenly unfolded.

Everyone around them suddenly froze.

"What the hell…" Nick Fury mumbled, his face bewildered and his brow furrowed.

But then he suddenly remembered something, turning his one eye towards Iron Man and asking, "Stark, so, that system is about to appear?"

Black Widow's face was also full of surprise and confusion.

Why did everyone around them instantly freeze like statues, yet she, Nick Fury, and Iron Man were unaffected?

Black Widow, while vigilantly surveying her surroundings, quickly approached Nick Fury: "Sir, do you know what's going on?"

"Relax, Agent," Iron Man said, waving a hand, before Nick Fury could speak.

He brazenly glanced at Black Widow, then, a little enviously, said to Nick Fury, "Nick Fury, are all the female agents in S.H.I.E.L.D. so beautiful?"

"Tony Stark, I warn you, Agent Romanoff is a rose with thorns. If you don't want to get your hands covered in blood, you'd best not provoke her lightly," Nick Fury reminded Iron Man.

"That's a shame. I've dated so many beautiful women, but I've never tried dating an agent," Iron Man shrugged nonchalantly.

"Believe me, you wouldn't want to," Black Widow replied casually, her face still wary and alert.

[A new round of questions begins. All contestants, please prepare.]

At this moment, a futuristic, glowing screen suddenly appeared before everyone, suspended in the air.

At the same time, an electronically synthesized voice also rang out.

"Sure enough, it really is that quiz system, just like Coulson said," Nick Fury looked up at the huge screen, his face showing immense interest.

And immense anticipation.

He was truly looking forward to what the quiz system would reveal to them next.

"Quiz?"

Black Widow was even more bewildered.

No matter who the mastermind was, to create such a huge commotion in the distant Arctic Ocean, only to make them answer questions? Was this a joke?

"Romanoff, don't overthink it; just focus on answering the questions," Nick Fury reminded Black Widow seriously. "Who knows, you might even get an unexpected reward."

"Understood, sir!" Black Widow glanced at Nick Fury and responded casually.

Although she still didn't understand the specific situation, it was clear that Nick Fury was aware of this bizarre situation.

Since Nick Fury told Black Widow to focus on answering the questions, it meant he had a handle on things, and Black Widow also felt reassured.

[Please listen to the question: In the Battle of New York, who resolved the nuclear bomb crisis that threatened the entire city?

A. Thor

B. Iron Man Tony Stark

C. Black Widow Romanoff

D. Nick Fury

Friendly Reminder: Correct answerers will receive a random set of Mark armor blueprints as a reward;

Incorrect answerers will have one of their personal attributes randomly deducted, including but not limited to knowledge, experience, skills, possessions, etc...]

A vein throbbed on Nick Fury's forehead; the words "nuclear bomb crisis" truly stimulated the intelligence chief, who was usually as calm as a mountain.

According to the intelligence provided by Coulson, the information revealed by the quiz system was highly likely to be information about the future. At first, Nick Fury was half-skeptical of this intelligence.

But when Black Widow found the fighter jet Captain America had once piloted, Nick Fury was already 70% convinced.

That is to say, he now also believed that this quiz system was very likely truly foreshadowing the future.

So, future New York… it was highly likely to face a nuclear bomb crisis?

Nuclear bombs were not something to joke about; once they exploded, an entire city would be leveled, and no one would be spared.

It could absolutely be called a disaster.

"Alien invasion isn't enough; now there's a nuclear bomb crisis. Has God abandoned us?" Iron Man's expression was also somewhat grim.

Even if he was Iron Man, he had no solution in the face of a nuclear bomb crisis.

The information revealed by this question was not good news.

Only Black Widow looked utterly bewildered.

She looked at Nick Fury, then at Iron Man, still unable to understand why their expressions had become so grim over just one question.

Moreover, the question itself was very strange, with a headless and tailless stem and equally perplexing options, leaving her at a loss.

And a reward of Mark armor blueprints? Was that serious?

"Romanoff, what do you think?"

Nick Fury didn't answer immediately but turned his gaze to Black Widow, "If one day in the future, New York faces a nuclear bomb crisis, who do you think could solve it?"

"Sir, launching a nuclear bomb is a very complex process; the mere words 'nuclear bomb crisis' are a bit too simplistic and crude," Black Widow mused.

"The information revealed by these four words is too little to conduct an effective analysis."

"Then let's analyze all possibilities," Nick Fury nodded, picking up where Black Widow left off.

"A 'nuclear bomb crisis' has two possibilities: one, the nuclear bomb enters the launch sequence, but the launch is ultimately interrupted, and the nuclear bomb is not fired."

"The other is that the nuclear bomb has already been successfully launched."

"Both of these possibilities can be called a nuclear bomb crisis."

Whether the nuclear bomb is launched or not are absolutely distinct situations.

If the nuclear bomb is only in the launch phase, then there is still the possibility of the launch process being interrupted by various factors, thereby terminating the launch.

Countless movies have depicted this, stopping the launch in the last few seconds of the nuclear bomb countdown, saving all of humanity.

If it truly is this situation, then things would be much more complicated.

This involves multi-party games and various contests; it's not something a few people standing here can simply imagine and come up with an answer.

And once the nuclear bomb is launched, it is basically impossible to stop.

Although theoretically, intercepting a launched nuclear bomb is feasible, in practice, it's a completely different story.

In reality, intercepting a launched nuclear bomb is almost impossible.

Unless… it's a higher-level method, beyond modern military technology!
