Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1 — Two Shadows Enter Cross Academy

The moon hung low over Cross Academy, silver light brushing across the tall gates as two boys approached with slow, unhurried steps. They carried no bags. No luggage. Not even the faintest trace of nervousness that most new students had.

Instead, they moved like shadows that had already decided the fate of the place.

Lucas Melek walked first.

In his human disguise, he looked gentle — almost harmless — with tousled dark hair and curious eyes that seemed to shimmer like gold when the moonlight struck them. He hummed softly as he stepped through the gate, as if the night itself entertained him.

Behind him came Jack Ragnarok, tall and silent, wearing the expression of someone who had seen centuries of stupidity and had long run out of patience for it. His presence was heavier, steadier, like a mountain that could turn into a volcano at any moment.

The Night Class dorms glowed faintly in the distance.

Lucas smiled."Ah. The nest of proud monsters."

Jack didn't answer. He didn't need to. A small shiver rolled through the surrounding air — the kind of shiver that only predators sensed. Somewhere in the forest, a Level E vampire stopped moving and slunk backward in instinctive fear.

They were already being watched.

Good.

Arrival at the Moon Dorms

Headmaster Cross practically flew out of the doorway to greet them, waving enthusiastically despite the late hour.

"Well! You must be the transfer students! Welcome, welcome!"His grin was suspiciously wide.

Lucas tilted his head. "Your cheerfulness is… unusual for someone running a school full of secrets."

"Ahaha—! You certainly have a sense of humor."

Jack stared at the Headmaster without blinking.

For the first time that night, Cross's smile faltered.

"...Let me show you to your rooms," he said quickly.

Inside the Moon Dorms

Pureblood vampire Kaname Kuran stood at the top of the stairs as the two boys entered. His gaze was calm, elegant, and quietly commanding as always. The Night Class hovered behind him like obedient stars revolving around a sun.

Lucas and Jack paused.

Kaname spoke first."You two are… unusual."

Lucas stepped forward, smiling with the kind of politeness that hid a blade underneath.

"Observation is a two-way street, Lord Kuran."

Kaname's eyes narrowed a fraction — a rare sign of irritation.

Jack placed a hand lightly on Lucas's shoulder.

Not protective.

Just a warning.

Not yet.

Pureblood Arrogance

One of the vampires in the back whispered loudly enough for them to hear:

"Humans shouldn't look Kaname-sama in the eyes."

Lucas turned his head slowly, smile still gentle, still playful.

"I am looking," he said lightly. "Nothing happened."

The vampire stiffened. Before he could speak again, Lucas added:

"But if you threaten me again, something will happen."

The room dropped several degrees.

Kaname raised a hand, stopping his follower from reacting.

"Enough."

His gaze wandered between Lucas and Jack, assessing, calculating.

"You are here to study," Kaname said."Not to cause trouble."

Lucas bowed politely."We won't cause trouble."

Jack's voice finally rumbled out — low and simple:

"Unless someone gives us some."

Several Night Class students took a step backward.

Later That Night

Once they were alone in their assigned dorm room, Lucas sprawled across one of the beds, hands behind his head.

"Well. They're worse than I expected."

Jack stood by the window, watching the moonlit courtyard.

"They reek of entitlement."

Lucas snorted. "Purebloods always do."

Jack didn't turn around."Do we start now?"

"No," Lucas said, stretching lazily."First, we watch them. Let them play at superiority. Let them show us their cracks."

His voice darkened — not loud, not angry, just absolute.

"And the moment they cross us…"A slow smile spread across his face."…we erase them."

Jack nodded once.

The moonlight flickered as if responding to the promise.

Across the campus, Kaname Kuran felt an unease he hadn't sensed in centuries.

Something had arrived.

Something that did not fear purebloods.

Something that might, for the first time, fearlessly judge them.

And end them.
