Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 – The Emblem of the Aetharion Kingdom Soldier

Morvath extended his hand. The woman in front of him looked terrified, her face pale. She thought Morvath was going to kill her.

"Fine then, if you do not need my help. I will go," Morvath said.

He turned around and wanted to leave the place. However, one second later the woman grabbed Morvath's hand. That made Morvath turn his head. He knew she would do that because she had no other choice. Another perverted man could come.

"Sir skeleton..." she looked hesitant to say what was in her mind, "thank you."

Morvath nodded. "I will protect you, but you must pay for my service."

Anna immediately covered her body with both arms. She even stepped back because she thought Morvath would ask for her body as payment. Morvath shook his head, confused by that reaction. He never thought of anything like that.

"I am nothing but bones. What do you think I can possibly do to you?" Morvath said.

Even after he explained it like that, Anna still looked cautious toward Morvath. She kept covering the two mountains on her body. She did not even dare to look directly into Morvath's eyes. Her eyes kept moving restlessly, not calm at all.

"You do not need to worry because what I want is only for you to lead me to the nearest village from this place. If you can do that, then I promise I will protect you," Morvath explained.

Anna, who had been terrified before, immediately looked up at Morvath. She could not believe that the skeleton in front of her only asked for something so simple. Anna frowned slightly, feeling suspicious of that request.

"Just that?"

"Yes, I only need that," Morvath replied. He looked toward one of the men he had just killed. He saw something strange. Morvath crouched and felt the man's body. "Can you do it or not? If you cannot, I will go by myself."

Anna quickly nodded. "Of course. Of course I can do it, but you will not do anything indecent to me, right?"

"Yes, I will not do that."

Morvath tilted his head. He saw an object that was very familiar to him. He picked it up and the unique carving on the emblem became clear. It was the emblem of a low ranked soldier of the Aetharion Kingdom. Morvath's hand balled tightly into a fist.

Even the dark aura from his body almost erupted from within. However, Morvath calmed himself down. He stood and looked at Anna again.

"Lead me!" Morvath demanded.

Anna nodded. She quickly stood and began walking. Meanwhile, Morvath followed from behind. When Morvath started walking, he looked again toward the corpse he had examined.

"A soldier of the Aetharion Kingdom. What is he doing here? And why is he not wearing their special uniform?"

Morvath was confused by the possibility that a soldier of the Aetharion Kingdom was here and chasing a woman. Moreover, he wore normal clothing as if he was only an ordinary citizen. Morvath rubbed his chin repeatedly.

He looked at the woman in front of him. "Why were they chasing you?"

Anna glanced back. She looked hesitant, still not trusting Morvath completely. Of course that was normal because Morvath's appearance was that of a skeleton. Skeletons were undead monsters and they were evil beings who liked to kill humans.

Trusting a creature like that? Naturally Anna found it difficult, even though Morvath had saved her before.

"They..." Anna began speaking. She stayed silent for a few seconds before continuing again, "they attacked our village. They killed people mercilessly and destroyed our houses."

Morvath became even more confused. "Destroying your village?"

Anna nodded. "Yes, they did that. There were many of them. They carried weapons and insanely attacked anyone they met. They did not choose their victims. Even children and old people were killed by them," Anna explained again.

Morvath rubbed his chin. He felt this did not make sense. Soldiers from the Aetharion Kingdom attacking and killing their own people. It made no sense, but Morvath's memories about the kingdom's betrayal toward him made him accept the possibility.

"Does the kingdom often do this without the knowledge of many people? For what reason would they do such a thing?"

Morvath still could not find a logical reason. Killing their own citizens? That was truly strange. Morvath had not found any reason behind all of this.

"Or is this not within the Aetharion Kingdom?" Morvath immediately looked at Anna again. "What is the name of your village?"

"Oakhall Village," Anna answered.

Morvath was shocked hearing that. Now he knew his location. He was sure that the forest he was in now was the Dark Forest. The border forest that separated human territory and demon territory. The farthest region from the Aetharion Kingdom's capital city.

But this area was still part of the Aetharion Kingdom. "So they really killed their own people. What are those bastards thinking? What cunning thing are they planning?"

Morvath was sure that something big was being planned by the king and his close people. He was certain it was not something good.

"Sir skeleton, that is my village," Anna said.

They had finally exited the Dark Forest. At that moment sunlight began to shine and illuminate Morvath's bones. He looked very striking since he came without any clothing covering his body. Morvath opened his system menu.

Without hesitation, Morvath immediately bought a cloak to cover his entire body. A brown cloak. After that, he nodded.

"Alright, take me there! I will destroy those people!" Morvath demanded.
