On the frozen sea, a crisp "crack" shattered the polar silence. The sound echoed across the desolate ice field like a precursor to the awakening of some ancient beast.
Shattered ice sprayed everywhere, followed by a series of bone-chilling "crack-crack-crack" sounds. The distant ice surface suddenly exploded as a kilometer-long Azure Dragon burst through the ice layer, soaring into the sky. Its metallic scales shimmered brilliantly under the sunlight, its winding body nearly blotting out the entire sky. Each breath the dragon took stirred up fierce winds, scattering snow and ice in all directions.
Kaidou looked down from above at the distant Newgate, his dragon jaws slowly opening. What was terrifying was that this time, his mouth gathered not only flames hot enough to melt steel, but also violent lightning that intertwined within, emitting sharp cracking sounds. The air around the dragon's breath twisted and deformed from the intense heat, even causing light to refract.
"Heat Breath—!"
With an earth-shaking dragon roar, a fire vortex dozens of meters in diameter erupted forth. This pillar of fire wrapped in lightning cut through the sky, scorching and twisting the air along its path as it headed straight for the distant Newgate.
Wherever the flames passed, the ice instantly vaporized, leaving behind a charred trail billowing with white smoke.
Facing this world-destroying attack, Newgate let out his signature hearty laugh: "Gurarararara!"" He tightly gripped his Supreme Grade Sharp Blade "Cloud Cutter," rapidly spinning the blade before delivering a fierce diagonal slash against the incoming pillar of fire.
A cold gleam of the blade flashed, and the scorching fire pillar was forcibly split in two! Where the blade passed, even the flames were shattered into countless tiny sparks.
The split Heat Breath crashed heavily onto the thick ice layer, instantly triggering a violent reaction. The ice melted at a visible rate, with massive amounts of steam gushing out, quickly enveloping an area hundreds of meters around. Within the steam, one could vaguely see undercurrents surging beneath the ice layer, the melted seawater boiling violently under the high temperature.
Seizing the opportunity, Newgate took two fierce steps forward. With a "boom," the ice beneath his feet shattered layer by layer as he shot skyward like a cannonball, instantly appearing before Kaidou. White vibrating light waves crazily gathered on his fist as he delivered a heavy punch directly at Kaidou's dragon head.
The space around his fist developed fine cracks due to the powerful vibration ability.
"Crack-crack-crack!" The air shattered inch by inch under the Tremor Fruit's power.
This strike directly blasted Kaidou's head more than ten meters deep into the ice, even forcing his dragon eyes to close in pain. The massive impact force made the surrounding ice layers undulate like ocean waves, forming expanding circles of ice waves.
Yet in that split second, Kaidou's dragon eyes suddenly opened, a crimson fierce light flashing within. He fiercely raised his dragon head, his bloodthirsty maw aimed at the nearby Newgate. Dangerous light flickered within his dragon mouth—a precursor to an imminent deadly attack.
"Destructive Wind!"
In an instant, countless wind blades capable of slicing mountains and tearing apart the earth surged from the dragon's mouth. These razor-sharp wind blades formed a storm of death, sweeping toward Newgate with overwhelming force. Each blade carried an ear-piercing shriek as it tore through the air, leaving subtle distortions in space where they passed.
Newgate immediately positioned Cloud Cutter horizontally before his chest, the blade spinning rapidly to form an impenetrable defensive barrier. When blade met wind blade, brilliant sparks erupted. These sparks danced across the ice, igniting the surrounding snow into flickering flames.
Kaidou's massive dragon form suddenly twisted, his enormous tail swinging toward Newgate with earth-shattering momentum. The scales along the tail gleamed coldly as it moved, the tip cutting through the air with a sharp whistle.
A direct hit from this attack could level a small mountain.
Newgate showed no fear, Ame-no-Habakiri's blade coated with vibrating energy as he swung to meet the dragon's tail. The air around the blade distorted in wave-like patterns from the vibration power, as if space itself trembled.
BOOM—!
Their attacks collided, erupting in deafening noise as a violent storm surged outward. The shockwave shattered the ice for hundreds of meters around, revealing the turbulent sea beneath. Massive sprays of water shot skyward, refracting rainbow colors in the sunlight.
Newgate was forced backward through the air by the recoil. His cloak flapped violently in the gale, each backward step creating visible shockwaves in the air.
"Wororororo!"
Kaidou's laughter echoed as the dragon's head opened its bloody maw, aiming directly for Newgate. The pale dragon teeth shone with metallic luster in the sunlight, each one like a sharp greatsword gleaming with deadly cold light. Flickering energy surges were visible deep within the dragon's mouth, ready to unleash another attack.
At the critical moment, Newgate kicked off the air, his figure instantly ascending dozens of meters. Gripping Ame-no-Habakiri with one hand, he swung it backhanded, the blade glowing with transparent energy waves. The sword's trajectory left a lingering light trail in the air, as if slicing through space itself.
CLANG—!
With an ear-splitting metallic crash, Ame-no-Habakiri struck the dragon's teeth, bursting into brilliant sparks. Two immense forces clashed violently in mid-air, shockwaves spreading outward from their epicenter.
Then cracks began to form within the dragon tooth that had collided with Ame-no-Habakiri. The cracks rapidly expanded until a piece of the tooth broke off completely.
"Gurararara! Your teeth aren't what they used to be, brat Kaidou!" Newgate roared with laughter, but his movements never slowed. He raised Ame-no-Habakiri high before swinging it downward with tremendous force, the power so great that even the weapon's shaft bent.
THUD—!
Kaidou's dragon form was struck by Ame-no-Habakiri, sending the entire body crashing down toward the ice below. The impact shattered the ice surface, mixing fine ice particles with distant water vapor.
Then the massive Azure Dragon body began to shrink. In an instant, Kaidou's form transformed into a ferocious and robust physique covered entirely in cyan scales. His disheveled hair radiated terrifying power, while four furious horns gleaming with dark light pointed straight toward the heavens. From his hips downward, two long legs bent backward to support his enormous frame, with his feet transforming into a fusion of eagle claws and tiger paws. A thick, long tail rose behind him, continuously smashing against the ice surface.
At this moment, Newgate had also landed on the ice and was watching Kaidou in his human-beast form. He laughed heartily, "Gurararara, just as expected from a brat—only going all out after suffering a loss."
