The Day of Change
Before March 6th, 2066, the world believed itself stable.
Nations competed for power. Economies rose and fell. Cities expanded upward in steel and glass, pressing against the sky as if humanity itself were trying to outgrow the planet. Diseases emerged and disappeared in predictable cycles, and science steadily claimed dominion over the unknown.
Humanity did not believe it knew everything.
But it believed it understood the rules.
That belief ended at 11:47 UTC.
Without warning—without seismic activity, without atmospheric disturbance, without satellite detection—the first Grand Void Gates appeared.
They did not descend from the sky.
They did not rise from the earth.
They simply existed.
Across continents and oceans, in deserts, forests, mountain ranges, and densely populated cities, massive structures materialized in perfect silence. Each stood approximately fifty meters tall and two hundred meters wide, shaped like colossal open doorways suspended slightly above the ground. They were constructed of no recognizable material—smooth, dark, and reflective without casting light.
Within their frames was not shadow.
It was absence.
A darkness so complete that instruments could not measure its depth. Light entered and did not return. Sound that approached their threshold faded into nothing.
Governments mobilized within minutes. Militaries surrounded the gates. Scientists deployed every known scanning technology.
None of it mattered.
The gates did not respond.
And then the energy came.
The Spread of Void Energy
At first, it was invisible.
No shockwaves.
No explosions.
No dramatic collapse of cities.
Void Energy seeped outward like radiation without heat, like wind without motion. It saturated the atmosphere and diffused through land, water, and living organisms alike.
The first signs appeared in hospitals.
Diseases began behaving unpredictably. Some vanished entirely, eradicated from infected bodies as though rewritten at a cellular level. Others mutated violently, developing resistance to every known treatment. A few transformed into entirely new conditions—fevers that altered blood chemistry, infections that strengthened bone density while destroying muscle tissue, illnesses that seemed to enhance instead of weaken.
Medical science entered a state of controlled panic.
Then the ecosystems began to change.
Plants grew faster and denser. Forests thickened unnaturally. Certain species developed bioluminescent patterns, faint glows visible under moonlight. Agricultural cycles shifted unpredictably.
Animals followed.
At first, it was increased aggression. Then accelerated evolution. Heightened cognition. Enhanced musculature. Hardened bone structures.
Within months, entirely new anatomical formations were recorded—horns where none existed before, armored plating beneath skin, bioluminescent veins, multi-layered pupils.
By the end of the first year, humanity had abandoned the term "mutation."
A new classification replaced it:
Void Beasts.
They were not simply altered animals.
They were organisms adapted to Void Energy.
And they were stronger.
The Nature of Alignment
One of the most disturbing discoveries came not from wildlife, but from humanity itself.
Void Energy did not affect all organisms equally.
It aligned.
Researchers observed that exposure patterns were not random. Individuals exposed to similar concentrations of Void Energy did not develop identical outcomes. Instead, manifestations followed distinct behavioral and elemental patterns.
These patterns became known as Void Affinities.
There were ten primary classifications observed during the first decade following the Gates' arrival:
Dark – Associated with shadow manipulation, entropy, corrosion, and concealment.
Light – Radiance, purification effects, accelerated cellular stabilization.
Earth – Structural reinforcement, mineral manipulation, enhanced durability.
Fire – Heat generation, combustion acceleration, metabolic amplification.
Water – Fluid control, adaptive regeneration, biological stabilization.
Wind – Increased speed, aerial manipulation, atmospheric pressure control.
Metal – Density augmentation, sharpness enhancement, material hardening.
Ice – Temperature suppression, preservation, structural immobilization.
Electricity – Neural acceleration, reaction speed enhancement, bioelectric discharge.
Wood – Rapid growth, life-force expansion, regenerative amplification.
The classification system was not perfect. Some individuals displayed hybrid traits. Others developed abilities that defied categorization.
But the pattern was undeniable.
Void Energy did not create chaos.
It imposed a new order.
The Collapse of Assumptions
The most frightening revelation was not the appearance of the Void Beasts.
It was the realization that the Grand Void Gates were not closing.
They did not shrink.
They did not destabilize.
They remained fixed across the globe, constantly releasing measurable amounts of Void Energy into the planet's atmosphere.
Humanity had not been invaded in the traditional sense.
There were no armies emerging from the gates.
No visible architects.
No demands.
Instead, the planet itself was being rewritten.
Governments reorganized rapidly. Research institutions were converted into Void Energy study centers. Military divisions were restructured to respond to Beast incursions. Entire cities were fortified or relocated.
And slowly, a new profession emerged.
Individuals capable of surviving and harnessing Void Energy began forming structured units dedicated to combating Void Beasts beyond city limits.
They would later be known as:
Night Watchers.
The world before March 6th, 2066, had been governed by biology and physics as humanity understood them.
The world after was governed by Void.
And the rules were still being written.
(AUTHOR'S NOTE:- I asked someone to help make this new improved pre reading chapter of world building and also I be just using lines from here so nothing much will change from this so feel free to forget the information you will gain in the newer chapters because it be same here so come here to remember what you guys have forgotten since I be constantly adding stuff and I mean a lot of stuff. So Bye)
