The next day came quicker than expected for Shuyan as he opened his eyes to the wooden ceiling of his house. He jumped out of the bed in one smooth motion, and completed his morning duties.
The bamboo rustled in the breeze as the sun shone on the small bamboo residence at the foot of the mountain. Through the windows, Shuyan could be seen running around inside, a spring in his steps.
He wasn't this excited just for his regular session. It was because of his upgraded talent and, even better, the inheritance of Ye Wechen, which contained three martial arts that he had left behind as help for the next heir of the Pocket World—just what Shuyan had been yearning for.
One was a cultivation technique and another was a sword technique. As for the last one, it seemed to be something called a Mental Technique, which claimed to be able to increase mental power. The technique described mental power as a fuel that decided how long one could cultivate at a time.
"So it helps in increasing mental power, which then helps in cultivating for longer. That would increase my cultivation speed a lot," Shuyan pondered as he got ready to begin cultivating. The technique was called Heavenly Visualization Technique—origins unknown, or Ye Wechen didn't bother to put it in the inheritance.
But Shuyan paid it no mind and began visualizing according to the instructions of the technique. It involved bizarre shapes and objects—a draining experience—but he held on and opened his eyes only after his forehead was covered in sweat and his lips were trembling.
"It's hard," he grumbled, but if what the technique claimed was true, then this much work was nothing. He knew that. But he would need to continue practicing it for months before seeing any tangible effects.
"I'll just practice it in leisure," he thought as he cleared his mind for another new technique—the new cultivation technique. He massaged his temples, relieving the stress they had just gone through, and closed his eyes.
"Divine Art of Great Radiance."
That was the title of the technique, a domineering name to say the least, and as Shuyan began practicing it, he realized that the name was justified. Its breathing patterns felt more efficient but harder to pull off, and it even had Qi circulation paths which helped in absorbing more energy, which meant that this technique was twice or even three times more efficient than the Bloodborne cultivation technique.
"This Ye Wechen wasn't a simple man, huh? Leaving behind such treasures," Shuyan muttered after opening his eyes, a big smile on his face.
These techniques covered all the aspects. Heavenly Visualization Technique helped him indirectly increase his cultivation speed while the Divine Art of Great Radiance helped cover the basic foundation. And the sword art helped cover his lack of offensive techniques. The three worked in tandem to turn him into a complete cultivator.
All the surprises he was getting were too good to be true. He was almost getting used to them after getting the Pocket World.
"With all this, not to mention Qi Condensation, even breaking through to Core Formation should be possible. Maybe even the elusive Nascent Soul could be within reach."
Shuyan daydreamed, hands on his chin and eyes staring at nothing. The dreams were sweet, but he had to work hard to make them come true.
He stood up and grabbed the sword beside the table—ready to practice the last technique in the inheritance.
"Flying-Feather Sword Art focuses on using flexibility to subdue opponents. Never fully committing but ready for anything."
Shuyan muttered the core principle of the technique and began. His feet moved according to the instructions, almost stumbling at times. But he could see the vision after mastery.
His sword swung around, his body twisting and turning after every slash or swing. His muscles screamed at the new ways they were being used. Grunts left his lips and sweat slowly dripped down on the floor, but he didn't stop.
The sounds of the sword cutting through the air kept coming for hours from the house even as the sun climbed up the sky, slowly but surely.
Today was a rest day, so Shuyan had all the time in the world to practice and cultivate. So he did for hours uncaring of the hunger.
He only stopped after the hunger became unbearable.
"I should eat something." he muttered as he wiped the sweat off his forehead. He quickly scoured the house to find some bread and fruits which was abundant around the forest in the sect.
Hunger satisfied, he again sat down on the floor, the midday sun's rays peeking through the cracks in the walls. He closed his eyes and willed for himself to enter the pocket world.
His eyes opened to see the dark and cracked world and the dimly glowing sun behind it. There was no obvious change to the world but Shuyan could feel that it had been repaired slightly after he had poured in all his savings- the spirit stones and all the trash and dirt around his house.
And in that experimentation, he had also learned of the pocket world's ability to store things and it could be used anytime by the world as resource for repair and growth. This meant that he had a extremely big storage artifact which was said to be only available to the elders of the sect.
"Even they don't have this big of storage capacity for sure." Shuyan thought as he floated around. He could now control his body freely around this space. And he had a limit to check today.
"How far can I go?" he had to check the limits of this place. He floated straight up with his transparent body and it didn't take him long to hit a barrier. He flew around it to find the limits of this place all around.
"it's circular huh?" he flew back down while calculating how high up he could go but without any comparisons, he couldn't say. There was nothing to compare. Just darkness and the cracked world which was too big for Shuyan to know the exact measurements.
So he just left the space knowing that it was big enough for anything he could potentially need to store there.
