Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Spirit Trapping Crystal

Axel was quite surprised when he heard Nathan say that.

He had been thinking of a way to get his level up as he seemed to have figured out where the problem was and here Nathan was offering a solution.

Still, he was a bit sceptical. According to the memories from the original host, Nathan was quite unreliable most of the time.

Nathan was eager to tell him about the "treasure" he discovered but seeing that anyone could easily eavesdrop on them here, he decided to move somewhere else.

Classes were still going on at the moment so the dormitory was the safest place for now.

Axel's dorm room was a two-person room with their beds and other stuff placed on their sides of the room.

The room had enough space, enough space for them to even place a couch in the middle.

The two siblings entered the room through the door.

Nathan would have preferred sneaking in through the window if they didn't have the option to use Axel's being injured as an excuse.

By now, the injuries Axel sustained were fairly healed but his body still ached a little.

"So, are you going to tell me what you found now?"

Axel was quite eager to hear about what he found out, but his voice sounded casual, like he was talking about what they would eat later.

Anyway, no one would be able to tell if he was really interested in what Nathan had to say.

"It's something very precious." Nathan tried to make it sound mysterious as he walked to the couch and sat down, picking up one of the pillows.

After saying that, he just stared at Axel with a faint smile.

Axel could tell that he was trying to pique his curiosity to the max.

He sighed inwardly in exasperation before deciding to play along.

"What?" He asked with widened eyes.

Axel's acting was quite convincing, making the smile on Nathan's face grow deeper.

"Have you heard of the spirit trapping crystal?"

"Spirit trapping crystal?"

Axel searched his mind and it took just a few seconds to recall that the original host had read about it before.

Spirit trapping crystals were indeed precious treasures just as Nathan said, but the thing was that they were extremely rare.

It had been over five hundred years since anyone had been able to find a spirit trapping crystal.

These were natural crystals with the sole purpose of absorbing, refining, and storing spirit force.

Depending on the grade of the spirit-trapping crystal, moving up by three levels was something that was very possible.

Unfortunately, even common grade spirit-trapping crystals couldn't be found these days.

At this point, Axel could already tell where this conversation was going.

"So, you found a spirit trapping crystal for me?"

Hearing that question, the smile on Nathan's face finally collapsed.

"How am I supposed to find it so fast? I only read about it yesterday."

Although he was no longer smiling, he didn't look embarrassed in any way.

In his mind, there was nothing wrong with what he just said.

"You only read about it yesterday?"

Axel was speechless.

"Yes." Nathan nodded seriously. "But don't worry, I've already sent people to start looking for it."

That was not the point!

Axel found that it was really exhausting to talk to this guy.

Earlier, he made it sound like he already had the spirit trapping crystal with him. Who would have thought that he only read about it yesterday?

"Forget it." He uttered under his breath as he shook his head.

At least he has good intentions.

"Don't worry, it's only a matter of time before my people find it," Nathan said, blooming with confidence.

"Mm." Axel nodded before sitting down on the bed.

He had just sat down, when he sensed something and quickly shifted his gaze to the door.

Whatever he sensed, Nathan seemed to have also sensed as his gaze also moved to the door.

"I think it's Elena," Nathan whispered.

Elena was Nathan's twin sister and Axel's other sibling.

"Mm." Axel nodded, his expectant gaze fixated on the door.

Compared to Nathan, the original host had deeper feelings for Elena.

There was also the fact that she was much sharper and easier to talk to when compared to her twin brother.

Axel was looking forward to meeting her.

Unfortunately, even after waiting for so long, the door never opened; instead, the presence by the door suddenly vanished.

She was no longer there.

Realising this, Axel let out a weak sigh before lowering his head.

Seeing him like this, Nathan tried to cheer him up.

"At least she came to see how you were doing which means she still cares. As long as you prove that you've changed sis won't make things too difficult for you."

"I know." Axel raised his head to smile at him.

Seeing that he was okay, Nathan heaved a sigh of relief inwardly.

"So, what are you going to do about your ticket for the assessment next month?"

He had struggled to get the ticket to be in the same team as Rina but since he lost to Felix, the ticket was now in his possession.

The current Axel couldn't care less though.

However, Nathan's question seemed to have reminded him of something.

"Help me check which other two people have tickets with the number, seventeen."

That was Vesper's ticket number.

Nathan didn't ask why he needed to know that and just nodded.

He would find out later anyway.

"Alright, you get some rest now, I have to go check how the progress for finding the spirit trapping crystal is going."

After saying that, he dashed out through the window and disappeared.

Axel couldn't help but shake his head in amusement.

In a world with functional doors, there's someone who prefers using windows.

With Nathan gone, Axel got up and headed toward the bathroom.

His body was dirty from getting tossed in the dust numerous times in the arena and now it was starting to make him feel uncomfortable.

Something Axel seemed to have noticed after coming to this world was that, compared to where he came from, this world could only be described as semi-modern.

It didn't have all the highly advanced technology the normal Earth had, especially something like artificial intelligence, but it did have most of the things a modern society had.

Like the bathroom he had just walked into was fully equipped and the white tiles were sparkling clean.

He stood there and observed everything for a while before turning to the mirror to catch the image of himself.

He was still finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that the original host was so similar to him in appearance, figure and even some of their habits were the same.

It might look like a coincidence but Axel felt that something was amiss. He just couldn't point it out.

Excluding the fact that he was a level two trash, Axel could be regarded as one of the most handsome males in the Academy among both fairies and vampires.

His blue eyes were enchanting like a door to a world of pure magnificence.

Looking at himself in the mirror, Axel couldn't help but touch his face and smile.

Maybe this face was one of the reasons why Vesper liked that bastard so much.

Unfortunately, a pretty face didn't really mean anything in this world.

His priority right now was to find a way to break through to the third level but he knew that wasn't going to be easy.

He could still feel that void, constantly sucking away all the spirit force he was absorbing from his surroundings and preventing it from properly circulating in his system.

Even with the spirit trapping crystal, it wouldn't be that easy for him to break through.
