Jason opened the door slowly, inside the was a dark home devoid of feeling. Jason stood there a moment the bright sunlight outside contrasting like Fire and Water to the darkness inside the house. Windows boarded up from the inside and the outside. Grass in the front lawn long overgrown, and a lone tree could be see in the backyard taller than the house itself.
'Home sweet home…'
Jason thought as he took a deep breath centering himself. He hadn't been in his childhood home since his parents had left when he was a kid. Any money he got was needed to be used for food or saving up to pay UA tuition fee. Emotion swirled in Jason and his eyes pulsed along with them a visual factor that expressed his emotions. Flicking the light on it illuminated the inside. To anybody first walking in it looked like the house was ready to be sold. Everything was clean and there was no furniture to be found.
It took the entire day but eventually the whole house had been cleaned not a speck of dust in sight, the old TV had been fixed and could flick through channels. His old room from when he was a baby was converted into an office and he took his parent's old room after painting the walls a dark grey and throwing in a futon to sleep on for now. He picked up the sticks and weeds that had littered the lawns and mowed the front and back after renting the lawnmower from a neighbor that could bearly remember him.
Sitting down on his Futon he pulled up some movies to watch and sighed.
"Two weeks of waiting and training, can't wait to binge anime…"
The silence following the statement clutched at his heart and he curled in on himself. These days made him feel small, like an ant realizing that there were giants and those giants were not even the biggest thing in the world. He was cold… so cold…
The weeks passed in a blur of training and getting used to living in his old home. His job had him building homes and new roads at the outskirts of the urban areas and it was grueling heat. But finally one day while Jason was quietly eating pizza starring into the empty picture frames. Of course it was pepperoni pizza, he wasn't an animal. Just depressed as F. Then he heard the truck move off down the road he got up and retrieved his letter. Not wasting anytime he tore open the letter and dumped the contents out next to his box of pizza.
There was a letter and a weird disc thing that had a button on it, opening the letter it was a letter of acceptance with a list of materials he needed and where to find his classroom.
'I-i made it…'
He somehow stuttered in his own mind, it did not directly say he made it but this just confirmed it, taking a deep breath the tightness in his chest loosened. He flipped over the disc and pressed play.
"HELLO YOUNG JASON!!"
All might laugh heartily and Jason rolled his eyes, his mentor loved to show off and make people laugh.
"It is my great pleasure to announce that you have passed the UA entrance exam!! You scored a record breaking 135 points!!"
The yelling was getting slightly annoying but Jason just sat back as he watched. He had gotten first place in the exam and had gotten a 89% on his written portion. As much as he wanted to be amazed and ecstatic at accomplishing his dream… He just felt hollow this was supposed to be a monuments occasion. He had gotten into one of the world's best hero schools. He had conquered the limitations of his quirk and he just.. He had nobody to celebrate it will. He was just alone… Izuku would be celebrating with his mom, bless that women her son would someday give her a heart attack… But that made Jason envy Izuku and that hurt nearly as much as the pain of being alone. Stepping out of his house he sat on his porch and breathed in the pre rain smell. The clouds were a light grey and peaceful, Jason loved the rain so it was nice that it decided to fall on the day he got his results. About to close his eyes and let the rain soak him he noticed a box on the side of the road, there was a half soaked word on the side that after he squinted could make out was "Free". The rain began to fall so Jason figured there was no harm in checking it out. Walking over he packed in through the top and froze.
Inside curled in on itself was a small little puppy, its fur was black as night and had big floppy ears. Its fur was beginning to get soaked but the pup was already freezing. In moments the puppy had been wrapped in his shirt and held close to his chest as he dashed into his house to take care of the poor thing. Awhile later the puppy had claimed its spot on the couch covered in soft blankets and some left over chicken in a bowl for it to eat and some water. Jason made sure the puppy was sleeping peacefully and no longer shivering before he took a moment to breathe.
'Assholes… who leaves a puppy on the side of the road right before a storm? Give him to a shelter or something…' Sitting on the floor with his side to the couch he watched the puppy for a moment.
"Guess we'ree the same huh? Both left for dead cause nobody cares enough… Don't worry brochacho… I won't leave you alone."
