Chapter 10 - Remodeling the Poor Thing

I made a killing!

Fang Xun absolutely struck gold by taking in this little Ningguang!

You see,

in twenty years, if merchants wanted to buy a dinner with Ningguang, it'd cost them tens of millions of Mora.

And that was just for her time at a dinner.

If they wanted to buy a whole day of Ningguang's time, the price would be even higher!

Yet, Fang Xun only spent fifty thousand Mora to make little Ningguang his shadow.

This investment was definitely worth it!

Anyway, the secretary handles everything...

Just then, Ningguang spoke: "Then, Fang Xun... Oh, no, Mr. Fang Xun, let me show you around Liyue."

Little Ningguang felt that since she was now Fang Xun's secretary,

it was better to be more formal in her address.

But Fang Xun felt it was awkward to hear.

He said helplessly, "Ningguang, just keep calling me Brother. I'm not used to the 'Mr.'"

Ningguang stuck out her tongue and said playfully, "I'm not used to it either. In that case, I'll still call you Brother, Fang Xun, Brother~"

The little girl paused, then lowered her head to check the itinerary, and said, "Then, Fang Xun, Brother, our first stop today is to listen to Tian Tie Zui's storytelling..."

Her words weren't finished when Fang Xun interrupted.

"Little Ningguang, I think we need to change our first stop."

"Change the itinerary?" Ningguang blinked her clear, bright eyes, asking in surprise.

Didn't Fang Xun say the itinerary was fine before?

She didn't understand why they needed to change it.

However, Fang Xun was her superior now, and she had to follow his arrangements.

Little Ningguang took out a piece of paper, ready to record Fang Xun's words.

Although Ningguang had no experience as a secretary, she wanted to do everything perfectly, and she looked quite professional.

Seeing the somewhat bewildered expression on Ningguang's face, Fang Xun nodded gently. "Yes, we're changing our first stop."

As he spoke, Fang Xun's gaze swept over the coarse cloth clothes Ningguang was wearing, and her bare feet.

"We'll buy you some clothes and shoes instead."

Ningguang, upon hearing this, opened her mouth in surprise. "Eh??"

The little girl looked a bit dazed.

She hadn't figured out what was going on yet.

By the time she snapped back to reality, Fang Xun had already led her to a shoe store.

Ningguang looked up at Fang Xun beside her, then shook her head, pleading, "Brother Fang Xun, these things cost a lot of Mora, let's forget it."

"I think not wearing shoes is fine. I've gotten used to it over the years."

"Besides, you've been so good to me already. I can't let you spend more money!"

Ningguang kept shaking her head, trying to pull Fang Xun's arm to go outside,

but after all, she was just a young girl who hadn't fully grown yet,

how could she possibly pull an adult like Fang Xun?

Seeing that Fang Xun was unmoved,

the little girl's tears welled up in her eyes,

looking like she was about to cry any second.

Looking at little Ningguang's pitiful expression, Fang Xun couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time.

He knew Ningguang wanted to save him money,

which was why she was reluctant to buy these things.

Fang Xun had anticipated all of this long ago.

So, he squatted down and said to Ningguang seriously, "Little Ningguang, as my secretary, you represent my image to some extent."

"If you go out with me dressed like this, it definitely won't do. So, I need to revamp you."

Fang Xun paused, then continued, "Don't put too much pressure on yourself. I'm not giving you these things for free; you don't need to repay me."

"The expenses for today's purchases will be deducted from your salary next month. How does that sound?"

Other kids were always crying and clamoring for clothes and shoes.

This little ancestor, however, was different.

She was crying and clamoring not to buy them, and even pulling Fang Xun along.

She was truly adorably silly.

Listening to Fang Xun's lecture, Ningguang's emotions gradually calmed down.

If the expenses for the purchases were deducted from her next month's salary, then it wasn't unacceptable.

Most importantly, Fang Xun was right.

Now, Ningguang's identity was Fang Xun's secretary, and she needed to follow Fang Xun when he went out.

It wouldn't do to go out like this.

Seeing that little Ningguang didn't say anything, Fang Xun knew she had given in.

He smiled and pinched Ningguang's face, then led the little girl into a shoe store.

"Welcome, you two. What can I help you with?"

The shopkeeper was a woman wearing a very traditional blue qipao, typical of Liyue.

Fang Xun said naturally, "Help me pick out a pair of shoes for my little sister."

Seeing that Fang Xun looked like he had money to spare, the shopkeeper immediately went forward to help Ningguang choose shoes.

The little girl didn't look at the appearance of the shoes first, nor did she consider how comfortable they were to wear.

She was looking at the price.

Because she was used to living a poor life, the little girl always bought the cheapest things.

Shoes were no exception.

In the end, Fang Xun was at a loss. He had the shopkeeper put the prices aside.

He only let Ningguang choose the appearance and comfort of the shoes.

As the clean, beautiful shoes were put on her feet, Ningguang felt an indescribable feeling inside.

Since she could remember, she had never worn shoes.

For so many years, she had always gone barefoot.

So this is what it feels like to wear shoes. It's soft when you step on the ground, and you don't have to worry about those pebbles hurting your feet.

Ningguang's beautiful eyes unconsciously turned to Fang Xun, filled with gratitude.

She knew,

these changes were all thanks to Fang Xun.
