Synopsis
Humanity was thrusted into chaos when an unknown phenomenon caused a surge of an unknown energy within the Earth. This unknown energy mixed with the atmosphere causing every newborn child to resonate with an element upon birth. Through countless years of adaptation, humanity had formed a new system, all normal humans were dead and the resonated humans were now running the show. Technology had seen a great advancement along with the human biology, people who put their mind to it could gain enough control of this strange energy to achieve unimaginable things. And then, a new change occurred, for an unknown reason, the energy that had invaded the Earth, named by humanity as the Resonance Essence, mutated. A new kind of this energy seeped into the new generation causing a select few within the new generation of humans to gain supernatural abilities. These supernatural abilities used a person's inherent element as it's base to create specific effects rather than the free range control that all of humanity had grown used to. Some were born with powerful abilities, others were borderline useless and this new development sparked a new kind of interest. Alden Deckron, heir to the mysterious Deckron family, a powerful yet unknown force known only through the whispers of the higher echelons of society, is born with one such supernatural powers. Follow him as he uncovers the mystery behind his worlds unexplained developments and whatever unseen forces were driving these changes.

Chapter 1 - Placement

[Name: Alden Deckron]

[Age: 16]

[Element Base: Reality]

[Legacy: Mystique]

His silver eyes gleaming as they stared at his new card. This was the card he'd been given by the government after the annual countrywide test given to all students after they graduate Junior High. With this card, it meant he could join the big leagues now.

The wind ruffled his silver hair as he waited outside a large building. The placement center, it was a large building with two floors, the first floor was the reception area where most of the people were and the second was where the actual business took place, it was where he'd been given his identity card and it was also where his mother was right now trying to find the best base for his 3 year placement.

Due to reasons undisclosed to the public, every student after graduating Junior year was funneled in military bases placed at random strategic locations across the country. Each base had a special tower which amplified the ambient Resonance Essence (Resennce) Within a specific area around them which was also the entire base's area of operations.

These bases were meant to be assessment and growth camps for the students, they were not schools but they provided both the necessary education and experience needed for the real world. The amplified Ressence caused the students to grow rapidly in strength based on their potential and then at the end of those three years, they'd be released into the real world to do whatever they want with their lives.

Soon enough, he heard the familiar footsteps of his mother coming from behind him. He turned to look at her with hope in his eyes but his face immediately fell when he saw her expression, something was wrong.

"Mom, how did the placement go?" He asked cautiously, his mother was one of those people who could drop a randomly complicated bombshell in a simple situation.

"Oh, the placement went great." She stated.

Alden waited patiently for the rest.

"But, there were some last minute changes, I managed to get you into a grade B base in the next district over. Nice place actually, they have great facilities, faculty and a stellar track record." She stated with a smile.

There it was, the bombshell. This was not happening, after all his hardwork, he pulled all the stops for his assessment and yet somehow, he only got a grade B base.

"That doesn't make sense, my results were ok, I was even given a recommendation to one of the A rank bases closer to this place, what went wrong in there?" He asked, confused.

"Oh that, I did my research, it's an all boys base with a rigid rank structure and a lot of dangerous missions and expeditions. It's not that I don't trust your strength but rather it's your personality I don't trust, that is a crowd too rough for you, so I changed your placement location. Now you're far enough away to know you can't call for mommy when things get difficult and my research shows this place isn't as rigid as the last place, at the very least I know you'd fit in perfectly." She replied.

So that was it, the truth, disguised as a kind act to toughen him up when in reality, she just didn't want him nearby when he began causing trouble. 'But still, that was cruel, dropping me off at a B grade base when she could have just placed me in another A grade that fit her criteria.'

With his hopes of grandeur in a well known base shattered, everything felt like a blur to him. A car came by to pick them up, turns out his mom had been planning things behind his back for a while because his things were already packed within the car, and with that, they began heading to the base.

There are 4 grades of military bases that students could be placed in. They were from grade A to grade D, A receiving the most resources and government support, they got the best missions, best personnel and best facilities. The rest were spread to the other grades, B received half or less of what A received and it spiraled to the point where D received barely anything at all. Due to this development, every grade apart from grade A had to rely on their students in some capacity to stay afloat.

Large concrete walls surrounded the base, the front of it decorated with the base's golden insignia, the gate of the base was opened for today because they were accepting some of the new students. Behind the gate was a field to the right side, on that field students were running military drills, probably older students. To the left was the administrative building.

Alden sat dazed in the car as his mother handled things here as well. He didn't know how much time passed but eventually they were moving again. Soon enough he ended up in front of another building. It was a small building built in a square formation such that there was a small compound within.

The car stopped in front of the gate to the compound and again his mother handled everything for him. Before he realized, boys around his age had approached the car and were carrying his things inside for him.

After a quick inspection of his things, they were carried into one of the rooms as he stood facing his mother.

"Now Alden, I know everything happening to you is sudden but I want you to listen to me very carefully, this is a new environment, am not around, do not cause any kind of trouble that will have me receiving a call at home because I won't come for you. You already know how busy I am, don't expect me during any kind of visitation event, from now on you're on your own till break when am forced to come and pick you up and only Lord knows how long that will be. Alright now, goodbye darling."
