Chapter 7 - Chap 7 - Wolf King Sanctuary

The circle tightens.

Hundreds of elite players and NPCs—mages, knights, assassins, divine casters, demi-human champions—close in from every angle. Their weapons gleam under the fractured streetlights. Their footsteps sync into a single, grim rhythm.

Every eye is locked on him.

Sai Ji.

The Sovereign they think they can kill.

His bodyguards tremble behind him, blades raised but hands shaking violently.

"W-We can't… we can't hold off this many—"

"Master, even we can feel it… they want your head. The entire server…"

Sai Ji's pulse hammers through his arms, burning under his skin, like lightning desperately trying to escape.

Sal Vera's hand rests on his back—steady, warm, grounding—but even she can feel the instability.

"Sai Ji," she whispers, "you're one pulse away from collapsing. You can't release your full aura. Not yet."

He can barely breathe.

"Then what do I do?! They're going to kill me!"

She tilts his chin upward.

Her golden eyes glow.

"You don't need to kill them."

She smiles slowly.

"Just remind the world why they never kill a Sovereign."

The circle of enemies suddenly charges.

Arrows fly.

Magic roars.

War cries shake the air.

Sai Ji's instincts snap.

Something ancient wakes in his spine—

something terrible, cold, and commanding.

A whisper, deep and monstrous, echoes in his skull:

"Allow me."

His vision blanks.

For a single heartbeat—he is gone.

The world doesn't explode.

It collapses.

The moment Sai Ji's aura ignites, the air detonates like a shockwave of gravity.

BOOOOOOM—

A massive, invisible force blasts outward.

The charging attackers halt mid-strike—

then their bodies SLAM into the ground.

One by one.

Hundreds.

Elven archers choke on their own breath, faces smashed into the dirt.

Orc warriors cry out as their arms buckle and shatter.

Priests can't even lift their hands to cast.

Assassins melt from shadows only to collapse, twitching.

Even the Draconid Tyrant—huge, armored, powerful—screams and flattens completely, wings cracking under the pressure.

The entire street becomes a field of trembling bodies.

Only Sal Vera remains standing beside him, hair fluttering like she's standing in a storm.

Sai Ji's voice is not his own.

It rumbles.

It resonates.

It commands.

"Kneel."

Every creature screams—

then quiets.

Every living being's forehead presses to the ground.

Even players watching from the rooftops begin shaking uncontrollably.

This isn't a debuff.

It's a natural law.

For the first time, silence settles.

Sai Ji regains consciousness—slowly—feeling like he's waking from a nightmare.

His breathing is ragged.

His vision swims.

His limbs burn with exhaustion.

"What… what did I do…?"

Sal Vera steps beside him, placing a hand gently on his cheek.

"You showed them what a Sovereign is," she murmurs proudly.

"A being the world must bow to."

She glances at the hundreds of elites struggling in place.

"And this," she adds softly, "is only 0.9% release."

His heart stops.

"Nine… tenths of a percent?"

She nods.

"Your full power would erase continents."

He stares at his trembling hands.

He can't control this.

He doesn't understand this.

He didn't ask for this.

"Why me…?" he breathes.

Sal Vera's expression softens—unexpected warmth blooming through her features.

"Because you were born this way," she says.

"Because the throne never forgot you."

Her fingers trail down his jaw.

"And because I waited a hundred years for you."

The bodyguards crawl upright, shaking but alive.

"We need to go!" one wheezes.

"Master—more factions are coming! They won't stop!"

Sal Vera nods.

"Then it's time," she says, "that I show you where Sovereigns truly belong."

She snaps her fingers—

shadows coil around them like liquid smoke.

A teleport.A hidden escape route.

A place made for the Wolf King alone.

The world tilts—

—and they vanish.

Darkness swallowed them for a moment.

Not the cold kind or the terrifying kind.

A velvet, weightless void—soft, warm, comforting—like fur brushing against the skin.

Like a mother closing a door to keep the world away.

Then—

FWOOM.

Light bloomed around them.

Sai Ji stumbled, catching himself against a stone pillar carved with runic wolf heads. His breath hitched. His senses sharpened.

They weren't in the city anymore.

They were standing inside a massive, ancient hall…

a cathedral-sized den shaped from blackstone, silversteel, and living roots that pulsed faintly with lunar glow.

The air tasted clean.

Calm.

Alive actually.

His instincts straightened inside him like they finally recognized "home."

Sal Vera stretched her arms gracefully, the shadowy portal closing behind her like a curtain falling.

"Welcome," she said softly, "to the Wolf King's Sanctuary."

Sai Ji took a shaky step forward.

The hall was breathtaking:

Gigantic moon-shaped windows carved into the stone.

Silver torches burning with blue-white flame

Enormous wolf statues kneeling in a circle

A throne made of obsidian and bone, shaped like a wolf's fangs closing inward

A giant mural across the ceiling depicting a werewolf silhouette howling at a broken moon

Pools of shimmering moonwater reflecting constellations that didn't exist in the sky outside

He swallowed.

"What is this place…?"

Sal Vera smiled warmly.

"Your birthplace.

Your grave.

Your throne."

"…My what?!"

She placed a hand on the base of one of the wolf statues. It pulsed in response.

"This sanctuary was built by the previous dynasty of Sovereigns. The Wolf Kings used it for strategy, meditation…"

Her eyes flick to him, sly.

"…and for private moments they didn't want the world to witness."

Sai Ji choked on his own spit.

"That's—! Hey—! I'm not—I barely even know—"

Sal Vera laughed softly.

"Relax, Sai Ji. I'm teasing."

A beat.

"…Mostly."

His ears burned.

His bodyguards—finally breathing normally—step forward.

"Our King," Fern kneels, "this sanctuary is the only place safe from world detection. Here, you may unleash your aura without destroying cities."

Sai Ji winces.

"I didn't mean to make them kneel…"

"You didn't," Sal Vera corrects.

"You commanded."

He rubs his face.

"Please stop saying it like that."

She moves behind him… and places both hands on his shoulders.

Instantly—

his aura flares.

Not violently.

Not chaotically.

Her touch somehow guides it, controls it, shapes it.

"Sai Ji," she murmurs, "feel the rhythm of your heartbeat."

He does.

Lub-dub.

Lub-dub.

A subtle pulse of energy moves with each beat.

"That," she whispers, "is Sovereign Pressure. It is not meant to be released through emotion…"

Her fingers slide down his spine.

"…but through choice."

His body shivers—

not from seduction, but from the sensation of total raw power flowing under her guidance.

"Now," she says, stepping back, "try to release a small pulse."

"I—I don't know how."

"Just breathe."

He takes a breath.

And—

BOOM.

A small, controlled pulse ripples through the hall while torches flicker and the air vibrates radically but nothing breaks.

His eyes widen.

He did that without losing control.

Sal Vera beams, proud.

"Good, my Sovereign."

He blinks.

"…Did you just call me my Sovereign?"

She doesn't even pretend otherwise.

"Yes."

His face heats.

Before Sai Ji can question further—

DING—

The System unfolds a massive holographic banner in front of him.

Sai Ji stares.

"…I'm not on the list."

Sal Vera steps closer, whispers:

"You're above it."

Sai Ji rubs his temples.

"So I'm really the boss-level monster the whole world fears?"

"You're not a boss," Sal Vera corrects.

Her golden eyes gleam.

"You are the final boss."

He groans loudly.

"I don't even have armor!"

She grins wickedly.

"Oh, you will."

She walks to the throne, tracing her fingers along its sharp edges.

"As your power returns, your memories will come back too. And with them…"

She gestures around the sanctuary.

"…the rest of your dynasty's hidden power."

His bodyguards exchange glances.

One whispers:

"Master, there's more… beneath us."

Sai Ji freezes.

"B-Beneath us?"

Sal Vera nods.

"The Wolf King's Dungeon.

Your personal domain.

The place where your true body rests."

He nearly faints.

"My WHAT—"

"Tomorrow," she says gently, holding his arm before he collapses.

"You've awakened too much already today."

Her voice softens, velvet-sweet.

"For now… rest in your Sanctuary, Sai Ji."

She leans in, her lips brushing his ear.

"And remember—

I waited one hundred years to say this again."

He stops breathing.

"What…?"

Sal Vera smiles, eyes glowing like twin moons.

"Welcome home…

my Wolf King."
