Chapter 492: Two Sons of Destiny! An Evil Plan!
An old Mercedes drove by.
A middle-aged man in a suit got out of it.
Shen Anyu recognized him; he had previously sent people to investigate and knew he was Wei Changjin, Wei Yunteng's father.
"Dad." Wei Yunteng instinctively shrank his neck the moment he saw Wei Changjin step out of the car. The air around him seemed to thicken, pressing down with the weight of familial disappointment. The confident swagger he possessed moments ago vanished, replaced by the nervous energy of a student caught cheating on an exam.
Wei Changjin's face was a thundercloud of repressed fury. He looked at his son, his pride and his shame, and the words that escaped his lips were laced with a venomous exasperation that had clearly been brewing for years.
"I don't have a dad like you—no," he corrected himself, the slip of the tongue revealing the depth of his agitation. "I don't have a son like you."
Wei Changjin's sharp gaze caught the flicker of a suppressed laugh on Wei Yunteng's face, and his glare intensified, boring into the young man. He took a deep, steadying breath, his tone shifting from pure anger to one of grave, earnest disappointment, which was somehow even more cutting.
"Son, listen to me. Our Wei family comes from a scholarly background. We are a family of intellectuals. Everyone, everyone, has a doctorate. Your late grandfather was a distinguished academician across multiple nations. Your mother and I are both doctoral supervisors at renowned universities, respected professors in our fields."
He gestured with a hand that trembled slightly, not from age, but from sheer frustration. "And you… you managed to get into a vocational college. A vocational college. Isn't that utterly ridiculous? A stain on our legacy?"
His voice grew louder, cracking with the social humiliation he felt. "Do you have any idea how your uncles and aunts mock us behind our backs? The whispers at family gatherings? The pitying looks?" He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "They openly suspect that your mother and I must have swapped babies at the hospital. That no son of ours could possibly be… like you."
"For God's sake, at least get a bachelor's degree! Is that too much to ask? Even those internet streamers who get caught in scandals have bachelor's degrees to fall back on!"
"…"
Listening to his father's torrent of words, each one a hammer blow to his pride, Wei Yunteng trembled. He finally found his voice, though it was weak and unsteady. "I… I'm busy with the upgrade program, from vocational to undergraduate…"
He straightened his back, a spark of defiance kindling in his eyes. "I'm going to make a big invention. A groundbreaking one. Then I can upgrade directly. Universities will be scrambling to recruit me. They'll be begging me to enroll."
At the mention of his work, Wei Yunteng's entire demeanor shifted. The fear receded, and a profound, unshakable confidence took its place. It was the confidence of a man who knew a secret the rest of the world couldn't even begin to comprehend.
Hearing this, Wei Changjin's vision swam. Far from being pleased by this sudden bravado, he felt a fresh wave of incandescent rage wash over him. It was the rage of a parent watching their child chase an impossible, self-destructive dream.
"Wei Yunteng, are you my father now? Do you think you can just do whatever you want?" he roared, his voice echoing in the quiet street. "You stole your grandfather's life savings! You bought all that expensive equipment to build a… a lithography machine?"
He threw his hands up in despair. "I don't even dare tell anyone! I'm afraid of being held responsible for laughing them to death! Do you hear me?!"
Wei Changjin was utterly speechless. How on earth had he produced such a son? Not only did the boy shame the family by enrolling in a vocational college, but he had the audacity to steal from his own grandfather and pour that money into a fantasy project, claiming he was going to single-handedly build a high-end lithography machine.
It was beyond a joke; it was a tragedy wrapped in absurdity.
Although microelectronics wasn't his specific field, Wei Changjin was an academic. He knew enough to understand the colossal difficulty of researching and developing lithography machines. Entire nations poured billions into the effort and still struggled for years, constantly hitting insurmountable bottlenecks.
And now, Wei Yunteng—a lone vocational college student—wanted to achieve what entire countries could not?
But when Wei Yunteng brought up the lithography machine, he no longer shrank or trembled. His face was a mask of absolute, zealous confidence. "Dad, don't worry," he declared, his voice ringing with conviction. "I've already made breakthrough progress. In one month, at the latest, I will produce the most advanced lithography machine in the world. I'll crush the international competition until there isn't even a speck of dust left."
Wei Changjin was so incensed his vision started to blur at the edges. The sheer, unadulterated arrogance of his son was suffocating. Finally, having exhausted his capacity for argument, he threw out a final, weary sentence. "Good. Then I'll give you one month. If you can't do it, you will obediently follow the arrangements I make for you."
Watching the old Mercedes speed away, leaving a trail of exhaust and parental fury in its wake, Wei Yunteng clenched his fists. A confident smirk spread across his face as he muttered to the empty street, "I can definitely do it."
At this moment, Shen Anyu, completely invisible to the mortal eye, watched the domestic drama unfold from nearby with a predator's detached interest. The scene was far more amusing than he'd anticipated. A faint smile played on his lips.
'System, identify,' he commanded in his mind.
A cold, mechanical chime echoed in his consciousness.

Looking at the detailed report flooding his mind, Shen Anyu pinched his chin, a thoughtful glint in his eyes.
"Strongest Black Technology Scholar System… Earns points through learning, then exchanges them for blueprints."
"Uh…"
'This is a bit troublesome.'
If it were a system that simply granted rewards upon sign-in or by completing simple tasks, Shen Anyu would have devoured it without a second thought. He had been meticulously saving his Destiny Points precisely for such an occasion, to prevent a repeat of the Long Hao reincarnation incident where he had a prize in front of him but lacked the capital to claim it. He currently sat on a hoard of over eleven million Destiny Points.
With that much currency, he could absolutely devour this Strongest Black Technology Scholar System right now.
However, the condition was a massive deterrent. For Shen Anyu to go and learn to earn points?
'Learn? Learn my ass!' he scoffed internally. 'I am destined to cultivate immortality, to stand at the apex of existence!'
If he were to bind himself to this system and fully utilize its functions, his life would no longer be one of cultivation, conquest, and pleasure. It would become an endless grind of studying and reading, day and night.
No wonder Wei Yunteng didn't even have a single associated heroine. The system had destined him to be alone for life, married to his textbooks and blueprints.
'Still, Wei Yunteng is a highly growth-oriented Son of Destiny,' Shen Anyu mused, his mind already racing through possibilities. 'He only has a million Destiny Points now, but as he develops, he might even surpass Sword God Ye Linyuan's ten million. Perhaps he'll research some truly world-altering black technology? A starship? A device to move the entire planet? A two-dimensional foil to flatten reality?'
Shen Anyu's eyes flickered with a cold, calculating light. An idea, sharp and elegant, had already formed in his mind.
A million Destiny Points, for the current Shen Anyu, was a respectable but not game-changing sum. He could afford to leave it for now. He could let Wei Yunteng grow, let him ripen on the vine.
And all the black technologies Wei Yunteng developed could be conveniently acquired by Shen Anyu under the legitimate banner of the Shen Corporation. Whether it was lithography machines, controllable nuclear fusion, or something even more fantastical, they were all incredibly valuable assets.
As long as Wei Yunteng was under his control, he would be a self-sustaining gold mine, continuously generating value. Then, later, when the boy either became a potential threat or had outlived his usefulness, Shen Anyu would thoroughly plunder his last bit of value before discarding the husk.
After all, the greatest weakness of a technology-scholar-type Son of Destiny was his pathetic combat strength. He was, as the system aptly put it, battle scum. Unless he managed to develop something like an Iron Man suit, he was utterly defenseless. But creating such a marvel couldn't be achieved in a short time; it would require, at minimum, a breakthrough in controllable nuclear fusion for a power source, a powerful artificial intelligence, and revolutionary material sciences.
By the time Wei Yunteng could even dream of building such a thing, Shen Anyu would already be a being of such immense power that he could crush an army of Iron Men with a single thought.
According to the information he had ripped from Long Hao's soul, it would be another two years before Wei Yunteng produced a viable controllable nuclear fusion reactor. That was still a long way off. He had time.
A glint flashed in Shen Anyu's eyes. His immense mental power surged outward, an invisible, intangible force. It passed through the air, through Wei Yunteng's clothes, and focused on a single point on his skin. Without a sound, without even a sensation of being touched, a single, perfect droplet of fresh blood was extracted from one of the boy's pores. The crimson bead floated through the air, unseen by any, and materialized silently within Shen Anyu's storage ring.
With this, by activating the God-level Blood Curse Technique, he could extinguish Wei Yunteng's life from anywhere in the world, a perfect failsafe to prevent any unexpected accidents.
As a final measure, he released a cloud of nanometer-sized monitoring robots. They drifted like motes of dust in a sunbeam, settling onto Wei Yunteng's clothes and skin, becoming his unseen, ever-present shadows.
From beginning to end, the entire process was utterly silent. Wei Yunteng, still basking in the glow of his defiant stand against his father, had no idea that his destiny had just been shackled by an invisible master.
With his preparations complete, Shen Anyu departed.
'If Wei Yunteng can actually research something like a Gundam or an Iron Man suit in the future, I might even get to wear it myself,' Shen Anyu thought, a flicker of genuine anticipation in his heart. This was the first Son of Destiny he had decided not to kill immediately, provided the boy posed no direct danger. Otherwise, the Blood Curse would be activated in an instant.
"Next, I'll check on the second Son of Destiny, the delivery tycoon Tang Kun, and then go find Goddess Doctor Murong Jieyu."
"Once I've dealt with Murong Jieyu, I'll begin to take care of that kid Ye Linyuan."
"And, take down Fairy Pei."
Shen Anyu stroked his chin, chuckling sinisterly. He already had an evil plan in mind…
