Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Clash of Titans: First wave(III)

'Boom'

The explosion this time shook the very fabric of existence they had relied on to survive.

Tairron wasn't the strongest amongst the dark commanders for no reason.

The sky was covered by a veil of violet flames. The dragons roared as the shockwaves blasted them to the ground, some couldn't escape instant pulverization, the others crashed into the ground, creating millions of deep craters.

On the ground, the soldiers bent their bodies to the ground to avoid their imminent deaths. Tairron layed flat in his carriage, the horses neighed in fright.

The explosion lasted but a second. enough to wipe out thousands of soldiers from both sides.

Silence ensued after, collective sighs of relief were released by the remaining soldiers.

The sky finally regained clarity.

Tairron stood weakly to his feet. The air around him trembled slightly, a pale hand grabbed at his neck.

A teasing squeeze followed after. Tairron might have been weak but even the weak him couldn't accept such a treatment. He struggled out of the grip on his neck, turning rapidly to see the 'foul brat' that dared to treat him like that.

His eyes widened in deep fear as his eyes captured the perpetrator.

Red hair cascading down his back. A mischievous smile hung loosely on his face. His red eyes stared straight at Tairron, his eyes reflecting the mockery in his heart.

" We meet again Phantom.." Caiser stretched his arms as he snatched at Tairron's neck again. His arms were scorched black with faint violet veins running through them.

He smiled at the commander quivering in his arms. The confusion in his prey's eyes a sight to behold.

With a soft grunt, he snapped the delicate neck in his grasp.

That fragile neck couldn't have belonged to that deranged, self-absorbed commander.

Caisar's eyes furrowed in doubt.

The gears of the battle seemed to have rusted.

The silence on the field this time only lasted a few seconds, before the remnants of the dragon legion exploded in a round of cheerful roars.

The dark side had lost two commanders in the first battle, it was a call for celebration.

The horns sounded from the back of the dark army, Brenton was the only one left to dispose of.

The dark army retreated like a tide.

How could the allied army refuse this opportunity, they chased after and slashed at the running darkness.

The dark army had inevitably lost a significant amount of soldiers during their disorderly retreat.

The battle didn't last long at all. the commanders had ended their first bout swiftly with no suspense.

*********

The broken and battered soldiers walked back to the border city, their footsteps giddy with energy. They seemed to have not fought at all.

They had lost no commanders.

The border city wasn't too far from the golden sun field, so they reached within an hour.

The soldiers were soon accounted for, dead and alive.

Their losses were pretty significant. 150,000 were lost in this bout with at least 5000 injured and unfit for battle.

The commanders were attended to by the healers along with their valiant subordinates.

The dark army had lost nearly 550,000, with an unknown number injured. Their two commanders, one dead and the other in a coma, were also accounted for. This results were quickly written down and sent to the capital by winged scouts.

Back in the capital, Alleon sat on his throne his body trembling in glee. Mareeva sat beside her husband with a slight smile on her face.

"The dark army shouldn't launch an attack for a while" Bromulus was ecstatic.

"But we must remain cautious…..send reinforcements to the border city".

"Aiight…..this general will obey"

Mareeva furrowed her brows as she watched the generals back disappear behind the double doors of the throne room.

"This isn't over….we didn't send her away for just this"

Alleon took her small hand into his large palm and placed comforting kisses on her slender fingers.

He sighed. No response could fit the doubt.

*********

The winds of time unwound, leaving trails of blood in the snowy fields.

A month after the first bout, a second occurred, the border armies drove them back into the forest.

Another month of bliss and the devils had come knocking…but this time the army was battered more than before.

Brivan had perished in this war, his corpse rolled back in white cloth like the others. The mood was sombre over Sivennia, they had lost a commander, 200000 soldiers following behind. The devils seemed to have gotten high on chicken blood. The fourth bout followed just two weeks after the last, the borders were enraged.

They fought on their own kind of steroids, wasting the devil army to just tens of thousands left even after their enforcements were added. Three more dark commanders fell prey to the jaws of fury sent by the border city.

The wars came and went like lovers separated by worlds.

The armies were exhausted and replenished over and over. A vicious cycle of violence.

The wars seemed to slow down in the fourteenth year after the beginning.

It seemed both sides had exhausted their reserves. Sivennia had lost over 3 million soldiers.

Gladly, the other side had lost far more.

The Capital was silent at the break of dawn. The Blazing sun seeped through the heavy curtains in the throne room, reflecting on the face behind them.

White strands of hair painted the side of his pale face. His eyes spoke of years of exhaustion.

His shirt wrapped around his body like second skin. He couldn't see the scenery but he still stood stiffly behind the curtains. From the depths, the sound of heels on the floor boards pulled him out of his thoughts.

Pale fingers held his shoulders, a sense of comfort shook his heart. He bent his head to the floor, his shoes seemed to hold the world's secrets. His loose hair flowed down, obscuring the side of his face.

"The golden plain has been drowned in blood. The stench stretch for miles, disturbing the winds of the capital...we have watched this game for long enough. Its time to switch our interests. Alleon we sacrificed watching our daughter grow up because of this war.. I cannot watch this any longer, I want to see her…..my daughter."

Tears fell from her pretty eyes, little droplets littered the floor beside him. He couldn't bear it, this tears he never wanted to see.

"ssshh….my love. We would see her again. I promise"

He raised his hands, the curtains were opened wide, exposing the radiance of the rising sun.
