The gentle warmth from Palmer's embrace still lingered on my skin. His arms had wrapped around me in a tender, innocent gesture after walking me back to my quarters. Nothing more than a friend's comfort, yet the heat of his touch felt oddly soothing.
I was reaching for my door handle when his strong arms pulled me into that brief hug. The moment should have felt peaceful, but everything shattered when I spotted movement in my peripheral vision.
Jayden.
He moved past us like a predator stalking through shadows, his steel-gray eyes cutting through me with icy precision. Palmer offered him a courteous nod, but Jayden's response was nothing but glacial silence. He didn't acknowledge either of us, simply strode past and slammed his door with such violence that the sound echoed through the entire corridor.
