Jayden's POV
Jasmine bolted.
The moment Sylvia's declaration rang through the hall, everything else faded into white noise. The gasps, the applause, the excited chatter of the crowd dissolved into nothing as I watched Jasmine's face crumble. Pain flickered across her features before she spun around and fled.
My world tilted sideways.
"Jasmine!" The shout tore from my throat as I lurched forward.
Sylvia's fingers wrapped around my wrist like a vice. "Jayden, where are you going?"
I ripped free and grabbed her arm with enough force to make her wince. The crowd still watched us from below, but I couldn't bring myself to care about appearances.
"What kind of sick game is this?" My voice came out as a growl.
Her expression remained maddeningly calm. "I simply shared the truth with everyone."
"The truth?" Rage blazed through my veins. "You mean your twisted lie!"
A smile ghosted across her lips. "You really have no memory of that night, do you? When I came to your chambers?"
