Jayden's POV
The house felt wrong the second we walked through the front door after our meeting that had stretched deep into the night.
Something was missing. The usual warmth that greeted us was nowhere to be found.
"Ebony?" My voice echoed through the empty hallway.
Silence answered me back.
Palmer was already moving, his long strides carrying him toward her bedroom. I followed close behind, dread creeping up my spine with each step. The door to her room hung open just enough to see inside.
Her familiar scent still clung to the air, but it felt stale now, like she had been gone for hours. The closet doors gaped wide, with dresses pushed to one side in obvious haste. Her vanity looked like a hurricane had torn through it. Makeup tubes lay scattered across the surface, a hairbrush had fallen to the floor, and streaks of foundation marked the mirror where she had clearly been rushing.
"She left in a hurry," Palmer said, his voice tight.
"Without telling us anything?"
