Jasmine's POV
The shouting had died down by the time I made it outside, stumbling through the doorway with sleep still clouding my vision.
What I witnessed in the courtyard made me question if I was still dreaming.
Aunt Naia stood planted in the center of the space, her weathered hands clamped around both Jayden and Luis's ears like they were nothing more than unruly children caught red-handed in trouble.
My eyes widened in disbelief.
This couldn't be happening. Was I actually seeing this?
I pressed my palms against my drowsy eyes, blinking hard to clear away any lingering confusion from sleep.
Jayden's entire body radiated tension, his jaw clenched so tight I could see the muscle jumping beneath his skin. Luis's eyes had narrowed to dangerous slits, but neither man dared to break free from Aunt Naia's iron grip. Their chests heaved with barely contained rage.
