Jasmine's POV
Something stirred me from my slumber, a presence that shouldn't have been there.
My eyelids fluttered open to find Jayden standing beside my bed, his chest bare and gleaming in the moonlight streaming through the windows. His eyes held that familiar golden glow, the beast within him barely restrained.
I bolted upright, my breath catching. "Jayden?"
The room was bathed in ethereal silver light, the clock showing it was well past midnight. Just the two of us in this intimate space.
"Jasmine." His voice was a low rumble as he moved closer to the bed.
I pulled the covers higher, acutely aware of how little the silk nightgown beneath concealed. His gaze tracked my movement, drinking in the exposed curve of my collarbone, the delicate line of my throat.
My mouth went dry. "Why are you here?"
"Because I need you."
Fire bloomed in my core, my pulse hammering against my throat.
"This can't happen," I managed, my voice barely above a whisper.
