Lily's pov
Honestly, Versity seems like every other school just luxurious. The students here are lousy and openly judging. I could see them staring at Avelyn like she was less. I might have to convince Avelyn to get a makeover after today's class. We got to our class, settled into an empty seat, and honestly, everyone here looks high-class and super attractive, who am I kidding, the school is for the rich so of course they will look good. I'm still weighing whether to drop the I'm dying bomb so I could gain their sympathy but what if they bully me? No, I'm not a strong girl, I might dress like I own the world but the only family I have- my dad, doesn't give a ton of shit about me I'm sure he's glad I'm gone.
"Seems there are new faces amongst us today," the teacher said, announcing his arrival. "Care to introduce yourselves, ladies?" he asked jokingly and I nudged Avelyn to go first. I've noticed her shrinking and that's unlike her, my bestie is outspoken and won't tolerate bullies. She stood up and introduced herself, "I'm Avelyn Lux, and I'm here on a scholarship"
"Yeah, right blondie it's pretty obvious " a male voice at the back teased causing the whole classroom to laugh. I was about to open my mouth to speak up for her when I heard "It's not funny guys "Lo and behold the voice was my Zane's and he's walking towards us…. Gosh, am I dreaming? I managed to pull Zane's attention on my first day? Incredible Lily! Incredible!
I stood up, with my chin up and my ever-so-bright smile plastered on my face only for Zane to stop in front of Avelyn. Avelyn? She's not even dressed half as nicely as I am
"Are you okay? Don't mind them, Avelyn" he said comforting her as if they knew each other before
"It… It's fine… thanks" Avelyn stuttered obviously stunned by his attention.
" Just let me know if someone bothers you or needs anything" he said leaving our desk to his. Need anything? Ain't I supposed to get that privilege? I'm the one dying here! I broke out internally
"Could you please introduce yourself?" the teacher's voice rang out. "They already know who I am" I replied rolling my eyes before taking a seat. Yeah I know I sound ruder than I intended and probably that will be everyone's first impression of me but it's all Avelyn's fault! Acting all fidgety just to get people's pity and attention! Stealing my spotlight! Zane was supposed to talk to me first! I hissed with anger evident on my face
Throughout the class, I couldn't make out one thing the teacher said, I was busy thinking about how she could do this to me, how she could steal my man. "Are you okay?" Avelyn's voice occasionally asked which I glared at her in response. The bell rang to indicate that the class was over, once the teacher left the class, Avelyn faced me "Are you okay Lily, Let's go to the cafeteria for lunch "
" We ain't twins Vee, find your way yourself and leave me the fuvk alone!" I barked and Vee jolted stunned, I bolted out the classroom, leaving behind Avelyn, I know she will miss her way around cause I was the only one who studied the school map while she lazily said she didn't have to when she has me, a part of me guilty and the other part of me convincing me she deserved it for seducing my man!
*back in the classroom
....Avelyn's pov....
When I stood up to introduce myself, facing the classroom, I could feel the stares of disdain and I just decided to go on with it. "I'm Avelyn Lux and I'm here on a scholarship" then immediately I could feel their mocking smirk on me until one spoke up, he was sitting at the very end of the classroom, he's very handsome, has a defined jawline, blue eyes and a dark curly hair that was long enough to fall on his shoulder "yeah, right blondie it's pretty obvious" and the class bursted into laughter. Did I just have a crush on a bully? Gosh, his looks don't define his rotten character. I was dictating on whether to retort or just let him be.
"It's not funny guys" I turned around to see who the voice that defended me belonged to which made the class go quiet and it was Zane? Zane Wilder? Wtf! The multiple pictures Lily showed me while obsessing over him didn't do any justice to how breathtaking he looks. His striking green hair was styled into a disconnected undercut matching the color of his eyes, he's got this perfect face and height for modeling, and his body? Tho he's in a school uniform I could only imagine him being hotter shirtless. Now if I'm feeling this way, I wonder how Lily would be feeling, I don't blame her for obsessing over him cause he's so worth it!
Is he walking towards us? Huh? I can't imagine how happy Lily would be to have gained his attention on the first day! Why's he stopping in front of me?
"Are you okay? Don't mind them, Avelyn" He said and I could feel his softness over me. Stunned by his sudden attention I stuttered while replying to him "it…its fine... Thanks" I managed to say trying hard not to appear nervous or anything.
He smiled and said" Just let me know if someone disturbs you or needs anything" and then left for his seat.
Wait? Why's he nice to me? Please if you look my way too much my bestie is going to kill me! Oh lawd, let this kindness be put out of pity. Well, now it'd be easy for Lily to approach him. I can't wait to hear Lily rant about how happy she is to have Zane that close to her.

"They already know who I am" I heard Lily say and I turned to face her only to see her obviously annoyed. What could have annoyed her? Everyone has basically worshipped her as we stepped into this school building this morning.
" Are you okay, Lily?" I asked time to time only for me to be glared at, I stopped asking cause I figured she might actually just want to be alone.
The class was over and I tried to ask her to the cafeteria, cause food eases her stress.
"We ain't twin vee, find your way yourself and leave me the fuck alone!" She shunned me and exited the classroom.
What just happened? We were cool not long ago! What did I do to deserve getting shouted at? I don't even know my way around here, I had her study the school's map cause I never thought we would fight or part ways.
"Won't you follow your boss blondie? Seems the goddess is mad at you! Now what did you do wrong?" the teaser guy teased again and I was just too confused to give him a response.
" Rest Cole, you are making a fool outta yourself " I heard Zane's voice defending me again.
"You have a thing for our little blondie here huh Zane?" The teaser whom I figured his name was Cole taunted once more
"Eat shit Cole" Zane said coming towards me
"Is everything okay, Avelyn?" he looked into my eye softly
"Errmm… yeah… no, to be honest? I don't know!" I said tears threatening to fall off my eyes and then all of a sudden he pulled me into a hug. I stiffened as my body came in contact with his. No this shouldn't be happening, I murmured as I jerk myself off of his body.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, just wanted to comfort you" He said, and I nodded at him forcing out a smile.
"Let's head to the cafeteria" he added and I shook my head, "I don't think I'd be able to continue my day, I'll be heading to the dorm" I said and walked out of the classroom, trying to trace back the road we walked from earlier this morning. Got to my locker and picked up my dorm key, later after racking my brain really hard, I got to the dorm, entered my room, and slumped onto my bed.
"Phew! What a dramatic first day"
