He opened his eyes and gasped
His obsidian eyes darted around while he tried to grasp what was going on
Had he survived?
A fall from that height especially on his head would kill anybody. He couldn't have lived!
But then how was he here right now?
And where was here?
It was black and he couldn't even see his arm pinched between his face and wherever here was
He could feel how cramped it was and how uncomfortable it was having his tail and wings curled up like this
'Huh?'
'Tail and wings?!'
He slowed himself down and considered the possibilities
Had he survived the fall, been kidnapped by a mad scientist and subsequently been turned into a lizard man! Were the Hindus and Buddhists right and he had been turned into a lizard cause of poor karma?!
He paused and allowed the thoughts to amuse him for a split second then banished it away
The cramped space was becoming more and more unbearable by the moment
He shifted and could feel the sharp talons that had replaced his fingertips
The tail that curled behind his legs over his back and shoulders and looped close to his hind quarters
His knees and feet rubbing the inner wall of this cage
As if he needed another reason to leave this confinement, He could feel the urge to break out building within. A primal feeling akin to the need to breathe
He rotated his wrists back and forth and scratched furiously at the constricting container
It was tight and difficult to find the room to go back and forth with his claws but he kept scratching regardless
Soon there was a weak spot that would flex and he honed in on it
Determined to escape
The container chipped and the weak spot fell inward
Red liquid crept in as he tore away at the weakened cage
As more and more pieces of the cage broke away more red sap like fluid began to flood the cage
The pressure from the red liquid broke more of the cage He finally had an exit big enough to fit through and escaped into the pool of red
His confusion climbed as he swam what he could easily perceive as upward due to a slight temperature disparity it was disorienting at first moving in the unfamiliar body but he felt no rush from the lack of breath only tension from the peculiarity of the situation
He reached the top of the pool of which he had no depth for because he had no idea how big he himself was
He broke the surface and looked around
From what he could see he was stuck in a tall cavern
To the right of the pool was a was a pile of animal hides, crudely crafted to lay on top of each other
The hides themselves were on top of green stones that shone ominously
The stones would've been the only source of light had it not been for the end of the cavern what seemed to be hundreds of meters away
Almost a straight shot from the entrance to the back of the cavern where the pool lay
And he with it
The light from the entrance was orange yellow and warm
If the day night cycle was the same here then it would clearly be either dawn or dusk
More importantly, he was alone
He swam to the edge of the pool
And unceremoniously threw himself over the edge onto the stone floor
a better look at himself than he had gotten previously in what he had saw as obviously an egg of some sort
'Storm cloud dark gray scales, black scales making a big v with his neck in the center, sharp talons on 5 finger limbs, a preference for four limbs on the ground, a long tail that has large mass on the end reminding him of an ankylosaurus
Though he had scales he could tell he was closer to the animal order of Carnivora than a squamata
'Wings large enough to blow dust but probably not enough to fly'
'How useless'
He took a deep breath and stretched like a cat. Raising his back end and lowering his front while outstretching his front limbs. This felt very good after just having been trapped in an egg
He then leaned forward putting all his weight on his front limbs to stretch out his hind legs
While he stretched he considered his surroundings
He didn't know where he was
But he knew he was irked
Another life? Another body?
He had just killed himself!
He mentally exhasperated
'Let me be!'
…
he paused for a moment and considered what had just crossed his mind
'Had he killed himself?'
What counted as "himself"?
'My physical human body has most likely died and yet here I stand. In another body and yet the same conciousness. Hmm, or is it merely a replica of the same memories that human had?'
'Am I here now in this moment or merely a mental copy of who I was before? A counciousness transferred over by a more powerful conciousness?Or I suppose in an infinite model of existence a creature would be born with the same brain connections matching a human in another time. Even if that creature had no preexisting connections such as the same spirit or conciousness.'
'There were so many questions that this situation gives birth too and yet no answers except for the reminder of existence that in order to have doubt, something has to exist to have had doubted '
Nonetheless,
This was very interesting
Enough so that he moved on quickly enough from the fact he had killed himself mere moments before and was now in the form of some overgrown winged reptilian feline or dog amalgamation
'Hmmmm maybe overgrown is the wrong word considering I was just born'
His thoughts were cut short for at that moment the red pool's surface broke and a long light blue scaly snout and piercing white pupils on black eyes appeared. They frantically scanned the room before stopping abruptly on the one thing that was matching their gaze
Him
"…"
"…"
They continued to stare at each other for a moment before it unhurriedly swam to the pool's stone edge
When it climbed out of the pond they were still locked on each other
He saw a creature very similar to himself in build
He observed closely
Walking on four legs, the light blue monstrosity walked towards him
He could see now that the creature was significantly smaller than he was. Around sixty percent of his stature.
Now it was closer, probably around 20m if his body was similar in height to the 175cm he was previously, that distance wasn't far. If he truly was around 175cm tall that puts the length of his body head to tail start at around 6 meters. Counting the tail that length reached closer to 14m
he could instinctively sense the blue lizard was a she
A strange presence about her signified that
Instead of a ball and the end of her tail she had an extremely thin set of scales that covered a flat stretch of tail leading to a fine point
'Most likely a blade as opposed to a hammer'
'15m'
She also had no black scales around her neck instead she was light blue through and through except for the black accent that layed claim to her eyes, wing claws, and talons
'10m'
At this point he began moving his feet and rotating right, closer to the light that intruded into the cave
Moving quickly he didn't allow her to come closer
Her uncanny piercing eyes followed him and she stopped moving
she herself lowered her body and plopped on the ground
She opened her bearish snout and lightly growled for a moment
Outwardly he had no reaction, but inwardly he couldn't help but be intrigued
"Where's mother?"
She had asked calmly
