"With the passage of time, we have been encountering mysterious forces, but the higher-ups always had some scientific explanations for them. Recently, there was a complete blackout, if you remember, due to some meteor magnetic interference, according to the higher-ups." Leon slammed his hands down on the table, revealing a map to me, "But to me, something else is happening in the background."
"Why do you think that? And how is this connected to the solution for my questions?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You may not value this, but this incident, which happened recently, and the events which are already being predicted are related somehow, then the answer to your question is in front of you. This is just my intuition." Leon said in a serious voice.
"And what is this predicted event you are talking about? You know these are just bogus things to attract attention....." before I could have a chance to finish my sentence, Leon opened a document and showed it to me, which shocked me completely to my core.
"O.oy.ee.. just from where did you get this document? I dont think this is something you could have come up with yourself." I asked with a trembling voice, with my hands grabbing his shoulder.
"Yes, you are right, I obtained this document through different ways, as you can see, the weight of the situation we are in, this is not any ordinary document. It is a highly classified document that I had considerable difficulty breaking down. My friend, this is our last shot at the beginning of the secret that the world has to offer to us." Leon said the last sentence in a lower voice, projecting his sentiments. The only thought that crossed my mind in that moment was complete silence. The thing that was within my hands right now was something beyond my imagination. This document, titled 'The Hidden,' has piqued my interest with its content.
"When are we going into it then?" I asked him. Leon replied, "The day after tomorrow, so just prepare fully for this journey."
"I hope this will not be another clueless journey, Leon. I am tired yet excited. I am very much confused about my well-being. I hope this will be a breakthrough for us that we have been looking for." As I was talking, Leon flashed a smile with his thumbs up and said, "Don't worry, Nathan, I assure you this is going to be the last journey to the answers we are seeking."
"Well, that settles it then, I will be coming to this lab the day after tomorrow." As I was walking towards the door, "Ah, and please do change the scanning system. I get it, you are trying something new, please just change this red colour into something light and transparent, it is irritating me." I said, looking at Leon behind, who was watching the red light flashing through my body and face, and burst out laughing.
"Okay, will take it into consideration." He said while switching the lan lights off. "I thought it would give some vibes, but it looks like I have to change it," Leon said in a heavy sigh.
"Whatever, weirdo, I am out. Will be meeting you in 2 days." I said and took off with my cycle. As I was riding away, I could hear his whining voice fading away and the sound of my heartbeat increasing on the thought of the next few days being the days where my questions would finally be answered.
"So the day has finally arrived."I thought to myself quietly. There's a saying that says "You're nowhere is actually the now and here of your greatest breakthrough." I still remember how my father used to say these words to me when I had my back against the wall. Looks like it will in these days, father, that I find the answers related to the things happening to me. I thought to myself, looking towards the clear sky with a backpack on my back.
A sudden screech was heard, and I looked towards it, looking at Leon in the driving seat, driving his newly bought car. "Looks like somebody has been showing off too much lately," I said while sitting in the passenger seat in the front of the car. Leon replied with an energetic smile, "Hey dont be like that. I am like this only in front of you. I like to show the things I buy to my friend only, and sadly, you are the only friend I have, Ha Ha Ha Ha."
"Whatever lets just go." I shrugged him off, and he looked at me with a puzzled look and asked, "Is that only a backpack you are taking for this long trip?" I replied, "Yes, I think these will be sufficient for the trip."
"Whatever suits you," Leon said while starting to drive.
"So why are we taking this long-distance measurement again when we could have reached faster and more efficiently? We could have reached faster if only we had used that device." I said with frustration, as the long-distance journey is too much for a car to reach the designated place.
"Oh dont be such a boomer, we both decided with the draw, and I won it fairly," Leon said it with childish pride.
Flashback starts:-
Nathan :- Why the hell are you calling me at such a late hour?
Leon:- Dont worry, you can take an extra nap, but listen to me, which transportation should we use? I think a car is suitable.
A heavy silence fell
Nathan:- Of course, the device is...
As Nathan was going to complete his sentence, Leon cut him off midway his sentence
Leon:- A draw will be a good idea.
And sadly, Nathan lost the draw and slept while crying comically.
Flashback ends.
"Hey dont be so down, just remember what I said, it's the journey and company that counts. Ha Ha Ha Ha." He said, laughing out loud while driving.
I silently questioned myself about how scientists are supposed to be efficient, but he is the total opposite.
