Chapter 9 - Training & New Skills

Konohagakure no sato :

Dynamic Vision felt… strange.

Not overwhelming. Not intoxicating.

Just different.

When Naruto first sent chakra toward his eyes, the sensation was subtle—like a thin current branching off from his usual chakra flow, converging delicately behind his pupils. There was no burning, no violent feedback. Instead, the world itself seemed to sharpen.

Edges grew clearer.Depth felt more defined.Motion—especially motion—stood out.

Visual acuity increased first. Small details popped into focus almost instinctively: the fine grain of wooden counters, the faint steam curling from boiling pots, the precise way Teuchi's hands moved as he prepared ingredients.

Then came reactions.

Not faster reflexes exactly—but earlier awareness. Naruto noticed movements before his body even reacted to them. A falling spoon. A splash of water. Ayame stepping aside.

And beneath it all, something deeper—the nervous system itself responding more efficiently. Signals traveled cleaner. Quicker.

It was exhilarating.

Which was exactly why Naruto made his first mistake.

While helping Teuchi and Ayame with dishwashing and cooking, he kept Dynamic Vision active—completely forgetting to turn it off. The novelty, the excitement, the constant stream of sensory clarity… it drowned out caution.

Only when a dull ache bloomed behind his eyes did he finally wince and shut the skill down.

"…Ow."

He rubbed his temples, blinking rapidly.

(So that's the drawback.)

Having vast chakra reserves had its perks—keeping the skill active didn't drain much chakra at all. But chakra wasn't the real bottleneck.

His eyes were.

From his rough estimation, forty minutes seemed to be the safe limit. Beyond that, strain accumulated rapidly. Not damage—not yet—but discomfort sharp enough to demand attention.

(Low chakra cost… high sensory burden.)

Naruto committed that to memory.

That night, while resting and reviewing his system interface, Naruto noticed something new.

His skills… could level up.

At first, he was confused.

Why only Dynamic Vision?

Scrolling through his panel again, the realization dawned slowly.

(Inner Strength… Kage's Charisma… they're unique skills.)

(They don't function like normal abilities.)

They didn't have levels. No experience bars. No numerical progression.

They were foundational.

Dynamic Vision, on the other hand, was a trainable rare skill.

His eyes flicked to the display.

Dynamic Vision – Lv 1 (2 / 100)

Naruto frowned.

When he had first received it, it had been:

Dynamic Vision – Lv 0 (0 / 10)

He remembered the moment it leveled up.

No announcement.No fanfare.

Just… a quiet transition.

At Level 0, proficiency had accumulated quickly—one experience point per ten minutes of active use. But after reaching Level 1, the system recalibrated.

Now?

One experience point per thirty minutes.

(So leveling increases effectiveness… but also raises the bar.)

He leaned back, thinking.

(And this probably isn't universal.)(Different skills… different growth curves.)

He soon noticed something else.

Other abilities—basic ninjutsu, taijutsu—had appeared on his system panel as well. But their progression rules were different.

At first, even failed attempts granted proficiency.

But once a skill reached Level 1, things changed.

Now, executions had to be correct. And even then—five successful executions were required for a single experience point.

Level 1 to Level 2 required 100 experience.

(That's 500 correct executions if done the textbook way.)

That realization nearly made him groan—until he noticed something else.

When he pushed himself—adjusted angles, refined movements, corrected inefficiencies—experience gains came faster.

Sometimes one execution gave an entire point.Sometimes two or three.

(So it's not just hard work.)(It rewards intelligent improvement.)

Naruto smiled faintly.

(Good.)

The next day, after bidding farewell to Teuchi and Ayame-nee, Naruto headed toward his usual training spot at the Academy.

Dropping his bag beneath a tree, he tore open two ration bars and ate them quickly. They tasted bland, dry—but calories were calories.

(Training comes first.)

He pulled out a bundle of kunai and shuriken and paced toward a wooden dummy set at mid-range.

Taking a breath, Naruto activated Dynamic Vision.

Chakra flowed. His eyes glowed faintly—a lighter shade of blue.

He threw.

Thud.Thud.

The shuriken struck closer to center than usual.

Naruto tilted his head.

"…Hmm."

He adjusted his stance. Threw again.

Better.

Not dramatically—but consistently.

(Improved accuracy… better targeting.)

He tested again. Different distances. Different angles.

The results confirmed it.

(But this skill shines against moving targets.)

Naruto shifted gears.

The rest of the afternoon blurred into sweat and repetition.

Obstacle courses.Sprint intervals.Pull-ups and push-ups—sometimes with a stone tied to his back in ways that would make an instructor scold him.

Kunai throws mid-sprint.Taijutsu forms under fatigue.Leaf-sticking exercises while moving.

Dynamic Vision flicked on and off as needed.

He tested its limits.

Throwing stones upward and dodging them.Tracking falling leaves while moving.Practicing peripheral awareness while switching between taijutsu and ninjutsu.

By the time the sun dipped lower, his muscles burned and bruises dotted his arms.

Satisfied—and exhausted—Naruto packed up and headed home, stopping briefly to buy basic seasonings along the way.

Inside his apartment, he dropped his bag and went straight for the bath.

"…I want to go home," he muttered to himself, despite already being there.

After cleaning up, Naruto decided to cook.

Fried rice.

Steamed rice. Chopped vegetables. Eggs. Nothing fancy.

Clumsy. Uneven.

But edible.

Enough for three bowls.

As he ate, hunger gnawed persistently.

Training for just two days had already skyrocketed his calorie needs.

(So that's why I need ration bars.)

He paused mid-bite.

(That old man handed them out faster today…)(is this because Am I really the only one redeeming them at noon?)

The thought passed.

He focused instead on what he'd learned.

Pros of Dynamic Vision:

Enhanced hand–eye coordination

Improved peripheral awareness

Better situational assessment

Increased throwing accuracy

Faster threat recognition and response time

All without turning him into a monster overnight.

Naruto was satisfied.

===================

Hokage Office :

Sarutobi Hiruzen rubbed his forehead as he read the day's report.

(It's been a week.)

A week since Naruto had changed.

No—since he had truly begun training.

The Hokage examined the report not as a grandfather—but as a seasoned shinobi evaluating a soldier.

Routine:

Wakes at 5:00

One hour endurance training (jogging and sprinting)

Bath and laundry by 6:20

Reports to Ichiraku before 7:00

Cleans, assists, learns cooking

Leaves by noon

Redeems ration bars

Trains from 1 PM to 7 PM

Returns home, cooks, studies Academy texts

Trains transformation jutsu

Sleeps before 11

Failures.Injuries.Persistence.

(A shinobi with discipline.)(And a goal.)

Sarutobi exhaled slowly.

(Naruto has finally found his Ninja Way.)

The rewards were already evident.

(He's Genin-level…)(But we can't allow him to graduate yet.)

The Hokage's gaze softened slightly.

(He's taking interest in hand seals… chakra control… the village.)

Another note caught his attention.

Morning jogs—new routes every day.

Library.Hospital.Cemetery.Monument.

Uchiha Clan Grounds.Hokage Rock.

(I hope he finds what he's searching for.)

===============================

Back at the Academy, Naruto returned from Ichiraku after irritating the quick-tempered old man and securing his ration bars.

Snickering, Naruto headed to his training ground.

Sitting beneath the tree, he summoned his status panel.

=============================

Looking at his status panel Naruto remembered his training .

Ninjutsu includes the basic 3 Acadmy jutsu .

Naruto studied it carefully.

Ninjutsu wasn't just chakra—it was precision.

Taijutsu wasn't just punches—it was balance, form, and flow. making whole body a weapon with it's own Katas and forms.Bukijutsu wasn't just throwing—it was adaptation. Using kunai is not just throwing but also like slash , parry , thrust , throwing and including diffrent forms and situations the same for shuriken.

And life skills?

They mattered too.

Cooking wasn't just ramen.Cleaning wasn't just dishes.

Cooking is not just ramen but also other foods , the same for cleaning which is not just dishwashing but includes other things like dusting and laundry.

Everything had depth.

Naruto clenched his fist.

(I'll build everything properly.)

The path ahead was long.

But for the first time—

It felt real.
